Thompson Center introduced the rifle in 1983. It was called the TCR '83 Hunter Rifle. They also had a fancier version called the Aristrocrat. It was basically the same, but it had a fancier stock with cheekpiece, a checkered foreend, stainless steel, and the double set triggers. It was discontinued in 1986.

The TCR '83 uses interchangable barrels. Barrels were offered in .22 Hornet, .223 Rem, .22-250 Rem, .243 Win, .270 Win, 7x57mm, .30-06, .308 Win. Barrels were offered in meduim or light sporter weight.

Thompson Center improved the gun in 1987. Shooters called the gun the TCR '87.

Thompson Center also offered an upgraded version called the Hunter Deluxe Rifle Model. This was in 1992 (the last year for the TCR). They also offered a pair of magnum chamberings in factory barrels. They offered the .375 H&H Mag and the .416 Rem Mag.

Thompson Center also offered shotgun barrels for this gun. They had a 12 ga field barrel with 3.5" chamberor a slug barrel with 3" chamber and open sights. Also offered was a 10 ga barrel.

Re: tcr 87?

They never really became that popular. I did look for a while on the internet also, but I found the most from Blue Book of Gun Value.

I guess you will have to ask T/C. Here is their contact info:

phone: 603-332-2333

fax: 603-332-5133

They don't take e-mails.

Do you know if those ph. #'s are toll free?

Nope, they are not. Unless of course you live in Rochester, NH. That is one of my complaints about T/C. They have decent customer service, but getting hold of them is not the easiest.
