125py
How close do you put your trail cam to your stand? Also do you leave it there year around?
wtnhunt
Re: How close do you put your trail cam to your stand? Leave our cams out year round. Have one within about 65 yards from a ladder stand. The other cams are 100 yards away from the closest stand or further.
toddyboman
Re: How close do you put your trail cam to your stand? Yup have had a camera as close as 20 yards. Others are further away just depends. Most of the year. Ususally after most deer have shed we pull them in for a bit but they go back out quickly for turkeys. VTbowman
Re: How close do you put your trail cam to your stand? I use mine in or on trails leading to and from areas I plan to hunt. Sometimes it close as 20 yards from my stand sometimes its 100 yards away over looking a sweet spot I may want to hunt. Food plot trails as well with no stand. Tom2008
Re: How close do you put your trail cam to your stand? I've had my camera atleast 20 yards from my cameras. I know Mirage sometimes puts his cameras right next to his stands.
Randy
Re: How close do you put your trail cam to your stand? I'm not a big fan of putting trail cams too close to where I am hunting. In my experience, I have never got a picture of the same BIG buck twice at the same location. Whether it is the scent I'm leaving behind, or the camera going off, it just seems the big bucks seem to avoid them. Maybe I ought to put them out everywhere BUT, by my stand??? Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: How close do you put your trail cam to your st I put them where I think the bucks will be, regardless of where my stands are. It doesn't seem to bother the deer any since I usually get multiple pics on multiple days of the same bucks.
bowhtr1
Re: How close do you put your trail cam to your st I put mine where the deer are. I dont care about the stand site. I have alot of pictures of the same bucks over and over. You can look at my webshots page below for proof of that. I have had the deer move to another trail 10 yards from the one with the camera. I had the camera directly on the trail and still got several pictures before I notice less and less pics after a few weeks. I have one small plot that I get alot of pictures with a mineral site. This is my favorite picture spot. I get tons of pictures at this spot. I think the deer think it is a lightning flash. The down fall to the flash is that if you have someone on your property and they get flashed they might seal your cam. randy, I did have issues with my old 35 mm camera's. The sound of the film advance scared them but I made my own digital cameras that dont make any noise and that problem went away. I am not sure but that may be your problem.
