i've never listened to imus, or other "shock jocks" like stern. just garbage to me. but, he said some awful things, and got caught on this one. i'm not only glad he's gone, i wish the rest would leave. like jackson, sharpton, and especially malik shaabaz, the new head of the black panthers. what horrible human beings.

now, as to address racism. for 30 years or more, i've been listening to black tv personalities, and even politicians, call whites "honkeys". does anyone out there, and i mean anyone, think that is a compliment to whites???

Nope. And I don't hear an uproar from "the white community leaders" calling for the firing of whoever used that term.

Sad thing is when people do acknowledge and speak up on this very topic, it gets turned around and people are often quick to loosely label them as being racist. Has happened a time or two right here in these very forums on similar type topics.

Really is sad that there is double standard of such, and really in all reality often times some people for political correctness or for fear of being labeled will just keep their mouth shut and not say what they really think. That in mind kind of seems to me like freedom of speech in some cases is somewhat then infringed on by those radicals who for whatever reasons they may wish to do so push the issues of calling anything they don't like racism even when it might very well not be in any way racism. Maybe sound a little like that might bear a resemblance to oppression?

No doubt in my mind some of those who get involved in these type things really have no business in them, and they are really only there to get attention.

True. In fact, I'm a bit surprised that none of our resident Liberals have tried to tag me as a racist for my post.

Of course I am quite confident that I can defend myself against any such false charges...;)

What gets me about the whole thing, is why is it such a big deal, when if a BLACK MAN had said the same thing, NOTHING would have come of it..............

AMEN, PC has gotten way out of hand...I dont think he should have said it, but there are far more serious issuses America needs to be concerned about.

sharpton and jackson are MLK wanabees

I don't even think Sharpton and Jackson deserve to be in the same sentence with MLK. Oops, I just did it too.

MLK fought for things that mattered--equal protection under the law, equal status in society, overt oppression and segregation based on race.

Sharpton and Jackson stand only for themselves and making themselves famous. Sharpton is a racist in my opinion. MLK used boycotts in the civil rights movement--that's great. Jackson, on the other hand, opts for extortion with this Rainbow-Push Coalition.

What makes me sick is that Jackson and Sharpton put "Rev" in front of their names--it's a disgrace.

Back to this whole Imus thing, I can understand that what he said was offensive. It was also extremely stupid. Whether or not he got fired doesn't really even matter to me--but to pin the guy as a racist for one stupid thing he said is absolutely ridiculous.

What is sad about that Mark is that those two clowns both have such a strong following of people who support the type of bitter thoughts, almost in some cases seeming in my opinion to be near hatred towards others. That goes completely against anything I understand that Martin Luther King supported.
