texastrophies
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! I didn't see anything in that story about drinking and driving. Where did you get that from? That boy must not be living right. If it wasn't for bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck right now. At least he wasn't seriously injured in the accident. [/ QUOTE ] Who leaves the scene of a roll over accident if they don't have something to hide? Come on, he was covering up something, and most accidents where people leave the scene are usually under the influence. You get in an accident like that, no matter if you are a race car driver, you wait for help to arrive. Something is up and I think others will agree!! He fleed the scene.......why? To go get a tow truck to get his Toyota back on all four tires?

AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! Here is the part in the story that gets me to believe he was drinking and driving. "He left the scene," Sharpe said. "We got the plate number, realized it was him and tried to locate him." An attempt to locate him that morning was unsuccessful, but police reached him the next day. Waltrip was not arrested" So they could not find him that morningn but did the next day? He probably wanted to stay hidden somewhere until the after effects of the alcohol wore off and was out of his system. Just sounds fishy to me! You do not walk away from the scene of a roll over accident, you simply don't unless your were hiding something. Sounds like a case of partying a little too hard a few hours prior to this and being stupid enough to get behind the wheel of the car. Thank the Lord though he was not seriously hurt/killed or somebody else being killed from this deal.
str8shooter48
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! Close again. He almost qualified for the race two weekends ago. Then he almost made it home this past weekend. Almost don't cut it. Maybe he was bump drafted on a curve by the Easter Bunny.
Gator
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! I kinda feel sorry for the guy. The pressure has got to be getting to him. Did hear on NASCAR NOW on ESPN that an eyewitness DID NOT semll alcohol on him, nor did a State Trooper responding to the scene
Chrud
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! [ QUOTE ] I Did hear on NASCAR NOW on ESPN that an eyewitness DID NOT semll alcohol on him, nor did a State Trooper responding to the scene [/ QUOTE ] According to the story, Waltrip wasn't actually "found" until a day later. Which is plenty of time to sober up and not smell. The story sures makes the situation sound fishy. We'll never know the truth. One thing is for sure, the media (ie FOX and SPEED) will do a "wonderful" job to defend Mikey and make him out to be a hero over the whole ordeal. It's past the point where I'd like to see the guy give up driving and just worry about running his race team.
Gator
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! Chrud, th eyewitness supposedly talked to Waltrip AT THE SCENE. The trooper did not smell alcohol in the vehicle when he responded, not sure how long after the fact he showed up at the scene, nor do I know how long the smell would linger. You know Waltrip's family has got to be suffering as well, and that saddens me more than anything
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! maybe Ken "Swamphunter" gave offer his law enforcement advice and how long the smell could linger. I would think that if he rolled it over, windows got knocked off, the aroma would be gone. If you read the article its odd, seems like he was talked to a day later so he would have been sobered up. How do you leave a car in a wreck and just walk away from it? You know he has to have a cell phone? If it was a GM it would of had onstar and that would have contacted police and emergency personel right away. NASCAR will make Mikey look like a hero but I'm sorry to say it sounds like a driving under the influence story and he had to flee the scene. Sad but he indeed is under a ton of pressure and I don't see his organization being around for many more years.
punkinslinger
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! It's the only Toyota product that he has driven all year that has had any speed and he got skeered and lost it!!!

An emergency NASCAR vehicle picked him up and immediately took him to the infield care center for evaluation. Sheesh....I thought you all knew something about racing! I know a lot of you all likey Mikey--but if he broke the law, he should pay the piper. If it was Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon, I'm guessing the reactions might be a little less sympathetic--depending which one you hate...LOL. texastrophies
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! I am not sympathetic, but I do believe in innocent until proven guilty. You have to remember to him having a wreck is probably not that big of a deal, like it is to your normal joe. Remeber the lacrosse guys, everybody wanted to hang them, but that has turned out a little different than what the media first reported. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! Not sure how your insurance is but if I left the scene of an accident not sure they would be too happy. An accident that bad where the vehicle is on its side is reason to alert the police right away. Not walk home from it. Man to him cars must be disposable!! Innocent to proven guilty but this has drunk driving all over it!!!!!!
fisherguy
Re: Mikey\'s troubles continue! Glad that nobody was seriously hurt. COuld he have been hiding form something, sure it is possible, but i can honestly say that i have been in, and seen accidents like that. Clear thinking is not a common thing for people that make it out of a bad wreck. I know after mine i was uninjured, but my head was seriously rattled. I didn't think right for a day or two. AdvantageTimberLou
I think he's bit off more than he can chew but I'm still a fan. You got that right! He should have just done a 2 car team and that was it. He needs to step up to the plate soon or sponsors will leave. I seen more commercials for him and Reutimann than I have seen their cars in competition. I know its a tough sport, I have been in racing for 20+ years but at his level and what they have to work with, they should be making the show each week!!!
