So I went out on the front porch this morning with my little girl and we did some deluxe scouting. There were 7 turkeys out in the field across the valley......one longbeard and 6 hens. Then we had to come back in and do "turkey sounds". That's what my little gal calls a boxcall. She sat up on the couch and ran one of my longboxes. Pretty sad when a 2 year old can run a boxcall better than some of the old guys I know. Poor kid's ruined. Doesn't stand a chance. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MrWiggely Posted April 15, 2007 Report Share Posted April 15, 2007 Nothing wrong with that! I have had my boys calling with slates and box calls since they were 3. Now they are 8 and 9 and when I have friends come over, such as the first weekend, each of my buddies takes a kid with them to do their calling for them. They have called in about a dozen birds for my friends over the past 3 years. Now this year we are working on getting them on video doing it. They call much better than my buddies do, and are much more coachable. Meaning they listen to what I tell them and learn fast as to when to call, when to be agressive or just pur and cluck. Kids are great at the age ours are, and will most likely turn out to be great turkey hunters when old enough to go on their own. Thanks for sharing with us Strut, now get the new strutlet going!
