Hoyt03
Looking at picking up an O/U for shooting sporting clays/skeet and possibly using for pheasants etc. Browning's and Remingtons look pretty nice although they are pretty expensive. Anyone ever use that diamond model from dicks sporting goods. Would you recommend 12gauge for my above uses or 20? Appreciate any input on the subject. AJ
I would recommend the Browning Citori line of o/u shotguns or the Beretta 687 line of guns. As for the gauge, its up to you. The 20 will break clays as well as the 12 will and will take pheasants that hold for pointers easily. If you get into competition, the 20 can be used in both the 12 ga and 20 ga events in skeet. The 12 can use gauge reducers or tubes to allow you to use the same gun and shoot smaller gauges, although the same goes for the 20 ga. You can shoot the 28 ga and .410 bore out of it with tubes. Check out the bulletin boards around trap and skeet clubs. You can often find great deals on used guns. These guns will go to about 50K shots before needing major gunsmithing. No this is not covered under warranty. Its wear and tear. Extractors break, the locking mechanisim can get worn, the timing can get out of whack, the triggers can need adjustment, etc.

woodsman2230
Browing or Beretta. Those are the two best in my opinion.
Strut10
The Franchi-made Diamond that they advertise at Dick's seems to be well built and feels great in my hands. I never shot one, though. Check out the Winchester Selects. Made in Belgium by FN, built VERY well, shoot like a dream and are priced nice.
Equalizer
I would choose a Browning citori, beretta, franchi renissance, or a winchester
