Re: So..I gotta ask.

lived in Ohio nearly all my life, and while we don't get the snow that some folks get, we get our share.

my thoughts on snow:

i like it when it cancels school

i like it when i can take the kids sledding

i like it when i can pummel the kids in a snow ball fight.

i don't like it in March and April when it delays my garden (unless it cancels school-refer to number 1 above)

i don't like it when i have to shovel 80 yards of driveway (i gotta get a blade)

i don't like it when i have all the house troubles that go along with it.

all in all, i don't mind it until say, March. by then i'm ready for spring

Re: So..I gotta ask.

I guess it's hard for rancher's to imagine towns people being bothered by weather-unless your a city maintenance worker you can just burrow in and wait it out. There's nothing like a bad blizzard when you've got several hundred animals to get fed every day-it never fails that equipment etc always breaks down in that stuff too-without luck and good neighbors it would be tough. Snow though is a blessing it fills the dugouts with water for next year-waters the stock that are running out but can be a major pain at times. The worst week I can remember here was -50 with -90 windchills for 5 days straight that was almost more fun than I could stand lol.

shoveling is good exercise!!!!

It also causes heart attacks. Many people suffer from them when shoveling around the north. Some fatal some not. I worry about my mother and father everytime it snows. I normally do a pretty good job of keeping them cleared out, but if I am working...they don't wait for me. frown.gif

My driveway is always the last one to get plowed and I do the plowing! I have several I do for some older people and by the time I get home, just give it one or two quick passes and call it done for the time being. I am getting so I hate winter anymore. The snow gets so deep around here you really can't even play in it very well. Plus, after 4 or 5 months of dealing with it, then another month or two of dealing with mud before it dries up enough to walk on the lawn...I wish I was a few states further south sometimes.
