certified in any type of first aid/ cpr training stuff? Tonight I had class 1 of 2 classes for CPR/AED for the Prof. Rescuer tonight. The Red Cross changes some things so tonight was a review/practice session and next week will be practice/test session. Oh the fun times...one change is instead of doing abdominal thrusts on a conscious choking person, you now do 5 back blows and then 5 Abd. thrusts....way to funny when you practice on a partner, lol. Another thing is for CPR instead of 15 chest compressions, it's 30:eek: Geesh....and they took out the so many cycles then check for breathing and pulse. After the initial assessment and pulse check, you just keep giving chest compressions for CPR:eek: There were a couple times that when I stood up, I was al ittle light headed, boy oh boy...have to get in shape for this stuff:(

  • 4 weeks later...

I am a certified instructor in CPR/AED for the American Red Cross. It was a 2 day class. There have been alot of changes in the last 2 years. The reason for the changes is so that all rescuers, no matter who, will do the same. For example, If we were walking in the mall and I was certified by the Red Cross and you were certified by the American Heart Association we would both be doing the same procedure (compressions to breaths). I think it was a wonderful idea to get the two to be the same. That way there is no confusion.
