Dukey
I am thinking about putting down a 1 acre clover plot but will not be able to do this until about the middle or end of may. There is a giant buck in this area and it would be close to his home area so i want to put it in in the spring so he has time adjust to it. Is mid or late May to late to be putting a plot in? wtnhunt
I will not plant clovers here in the summer. Where you are may be different, but here the summers tend to be very hot and dry, making for conditions that are not as good for establishing a clover plot as fall plantings. dogdoc
mid to late May would probably not be a good idea--even where you are located. I don't know what your average summer temps or rainfall is but your plants will be mighty young when summer hits with a VERY shallow root system---you'd be better off waiting until early fall and planting the clover with a nurse crop such as wheat. brad dryden
I think it would be fine.
ksjhawk
I am in Central KS where our wettest month is generally June. For the last three years I have planted in May with average results, however the last 6 years we have been in a major drought. Our AG fall crops are planted in May & June (Milo and Soybeans) with success, so I would put it in and if it is too light overseed in September.
