if i see the "HR 1022" mentioned with the sad killings in virgina again im going to puke!, but for those pro HR 1022 people it must be the best time to bring it up, its so sad that they think enforcing gun laws is going to make a difference. not much venting but i cant say all of my feelings about this topic!

Sad that this comes up, but fox news has run a piece with Q & A that is maybe the flipside of this, "what if students or teachers were allowed to carry on campus?" Could this have been prevented? Think it would have certainly limited what the shooter was able to do.

There is no doubt a failure here, the nutcase had been told to go to outpatient psych services, he never did. At the point where he did not do as was suggested, maybe his rights should have been held up, this should raise some questions as to whether or not there was some sort of communication failure and whether or not states need to look at mandating that the background checks and applications for firearm purchases look at whether a person has been committed and been deemed dangerous to theirself or others. I am pretty certain the last few guns I have bought, the application did in fact ask if you have been committed. Sure he could have lied on an ap, but if the background check had that information, which I thought it did, he might have not been able to have bought the guns legally in the first place, had there been the communication there should have been in the first place.

Bottom line, this monster should never have been loose, he should have been institutionalized when they knew he was a problem. Too many warning signs. When a teacher loses more than half of the students in a classroom for those students having fear of a person in that classroom, something is terribly wrong.

It is to bad that anti gun people thrive off this stuff. I guess the news really cant report incidents that dont occur because the would be victim had a gun to defend themselves.

I agree with that statement. It is a shame that this brings a lot of more anti support. I wish a law would be made that no one could go against the original Constitution or Bill of Rights.
