wtnhunt
Heard a couple birds fly up this evening within about 75-80 yards from me about 30 minutes before dark, and right at dark I started walking back. I took my time and snuck around the edge of the hill and peaked up just over the hill and saw one of the birds sitting on a limb that parallels a strip of woods running along the river. Think that bird was a jake, but not sure. The tree the bird is in is only about 5 yards from the field, but the field goes up hill a bit putting the bird only about 12-15 feet higher than the level of the field. Where I was setup is kind of down the hill in the woods around the corner from where the birds flew up. I could setup there in the morning or setup over the field, but I am not sure which way they will fly down or once they get down exactly which way they will go. There are trails in the woods, but it is pretty thick. where do you guys think would be the most likely direction the birds would flydown first thing in the morning. drkillemquick
I would quess that they will fly right down into the middle of that field.
Guest realtrhunter
I would guess they will go to the field. Especially if it is short vegitation so they can strut first thing.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
They will probably pitch to the ground and get to the highest point asap ... that way all there sexy hens can see them better ... its always easy to get a turkey to come up the hill ... MrWiggely
I agree with BTTH I would hit the high spot. From what your saying it sounds like it will be the field.
wtnhunt
Well, yesterday morning I go out and spotted the one bird in the same tree right before light. About 30 minutes after sunrise, the bird flew down to the edge of the river out of my view:( . Never saw the other one that I heard fly up Friday afternoon either.
