Hate the USPS...sister thread to the UPS thread

I bought a new holster for my Kimber and it was shipped USPS.

It was shipped on 4.20.2007 and the tracking website shows "Shipment Accepted; April 20, 2007, 4:23 pm, CHESTERLAND, OH 44026". I am trying to figure out when it will be delivered but like most USPS operations, there is no information given at all.

The USPS seems to approach everything they do with the same ambivalence that the counter service people do. I had to mail a package on Saturday and the people at my local post office were just completely arrogant and rude.

Anyway, vent over.

don't ya wish things could go back to the ol' horse & wagon delivery :p , probably wouldn't be any worse :D

At least back then, if the mailman was rude to you, you could call him out into the streets and take care of it! :D

Why have tracking if you aren't going to update the system? I think the USPS's idea of tracking is saying "Your package has been delivered" when they hand it to you.

Since there is no tracking information about your package from the USPS I am left to assume that it is not a problem with the USPS but rather a problem with the shipper saving a couple bucks by not paying them for the privledge of tracking ... in other words its not the USPS fault its an option ... like wether you want heated seats in a pickup ... some pay for some dont ... as far as ppl being rude and arogant ... cant help yah there ...

New, had problems here with stuff being delivered to the wrong house by the sub carriers with the post office. Unfortunately I have no clue how much stuff we have not gotten that was misdelivered, but I was ticked when the $110 worth of parts I ordered for building a trail camera showed delivered and the post office would not do anything about it. They said I had to talk to the sender. The sender said I had to deal with the usps. I eventually went to the house I suspected my stuff was delivered to and found my stuff on the doorstep of that pretty well vacant house.

fact is, the usps gets the same quality of employee that is available most everywhere now. just not on par with the old horse & buggy days. let's face it, workers today are just not as willing to work, as loyal, or as good as they were 50 years ago. there simply is not a work ethic today.

I agree with this generalization, but I would like to note that my father is USPS letter carrier. He has been working for the USPS for 17 years and has various service awards - his customers love him and any Christmas the gifts pile up to show their appreciation for friendly service, cards, money, candy, cookies, etc. New, maybe people in your area are generally rude when servicing customers... but around here our postal service is great... at least at the three post offices I usually use. I have never not been pleased with USPS services either, and use them for everything. I do wish their tracking system was a little more advanced like UPS or Fed-Ex.

A couple things (for all the posts):

1) I love MY mailman (he is a man, so that's not a PC violation). They are the best. So no offense to you or your father.

2) The rudest people on the planet seem to work the counters at the PO. That's almost without exception.

3) The package was sent as a tracked package with delivery confirmation so it should be updated. The website doesn't even show an estimated delivery date.

Anyway, my generalization was too broad and should be confined to the rudies at the post office counters. I would say that 99% of them would be fired by my company if they spoke to our customers in the manner and tone that most of them do.

I see the same ambivalence at the counter at most fast food restaurants these days. Where when you walk up to the counter they just look at you. I just cross my arms and wait until they properly greet me with "may I help you" and then I cheerfully and loudly say "why yes you can, so good of you to ask".

Excepting the very rare exception, the counter workers at the post office locations are among the most rude and arrogant people I have ever met. They almost exclusively act as if you are interrupting their break or somehow have managed to stay 15 minutes past closing time and are keeping them late. I can tell you that my company would not put up with that attitude if they were interacting with our customers.

I dont agree with this at all ... matter of fact I mail stuff every single day ... the ppl at any of the counters I go to are very nice ... I guess I must be the exception ... I know I wouldnt want there job ... think about it ... constantly getting calls about ppl asking where there packages are ... and whatever else they have to deal with ...

New, I had to send a message to the post office to get my deal straightened out at the usps website, and still dont know that I am not getting misdelivered mail, but the local post office might have gotten an earfull, and think they will be a bit more careful.

When they called me back, I filed a complaint, that same day after talking to whoever it was that handles the complaints, the local post office called me back and was much more willing to try to help out with trying to stop the problems.
