Gator
How often should you replace the string and cables on your bow? Mine are about 1.5yrs old, and by apperance's, are in great shape, material is 452X. Problem is, I have lost about 10fps, even though my draw weight is still 65lbs, and my arrow weight has not changed. Think my cam may be overrotated though. Anyways, had a guy tell me yesterday that the string should be replaced every year, but I didn't think that was necessarily the case. What is everyone else's opinion? hutchies
Alot of it depends on how much you shoot. If you are having to put alot of twists in it to keep it in specs then it is time for a change.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
i think it all depends on how often you shoot and how often you want to change them...wore or not, i like to replace my every two years at the most...some people change them every year, some every couple. wtnhunt
I have heard every year, but have not changed mine every year. Have gotten 1.5 to 2 years out of most of the strings I have used. Had my cables checked last time I got a new string, and the tech said it was fine. It has never been changed, but think it is due.
VTbowman
Sounds like you had some stretching. Just have them twisted to bring cam(s) back into spec. I go 2-3 years but I dont shoot year round either. Mainly spring and summer then a bit during hunting but not near as much as spring and summer. Not all at over the winter. Straight Shooter
I've got original strings on my hunting bow since 1999. I don't shoot it a whole bunch and the strings are in great shape still. My tournament bow is another monster, I shoot it a bunch more that the other so I've all ready put two new systems on it. So, changing your string out will primarily dependon the wear and tear you do to it frmo lots of shooting. If you've got some broken strands, change it, excessive wear on any serving-check under the serving and reserve if you can-otherwise change the string. Also, like stated above, if you are twisting your string alot to keep the bow specs in, change it-you don't want to over twist your string this could result in the string snapping from to much stress on it. Gator
Thanks guys. I have been shooting a BUNCH here this year, and that is when I started having peep rotation problems, along with some other issues. Looks like a set of strings is in fact due for it, just gotta figure out who to get them from
hutchies
Bunch of good string makers out there. One thing I would recommend is using 452X material.
