To keep things consistant, you can keep a bunch of half run down batteries with you since no one knows how long they will last when they are working to your satisfaction. Sorry, I could not pass it up. I don't really know what to tell you. If its not working properly, send it back. The only time I could see it being a problem is first and last light.
