Gator
Frontline works good. Sounds like you need to put something down in the yard to help keep them away.
dogdoc
frontline or advantix--unfortunately both are pretty expensive. There are some over the counters like Bio-Spot you might give a try.
JDAWG
Frontline works good, however it doesn't stop ticks from getting on the dogs. I've been told that K9 Advange also repels fleas and ticks. I think that will be expensive as well.

Expensive but well worth it. They both work.... Plain and simple.
wtnhunt
I put down poison in the yard to keep the yard free of them, and use the hartz brand flea and tick pour on medicine from wal mart that goes down the dogs spine, think it has a peremethrin based insecticide which is also primarily what I use in the yard. Works pretty well.
BuckNrut
I think the easiest way is to not have any dogs in the first place. Well, someone HAD to say it.
dlriggins
the first thing I would do is to treat your lawn if they cant get to the dog they cant get on the dog after all an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as for what to treat the animal with I would consult the vet because some dogs are sensitive to some repellents I had a beagle that couldn't use a flea collar because he blistered under it so talk to the doc and see whats right for your dog
