Forum changeover hurt us

I have noticed that since the forum changeover took place...posts don't seem to have nearly as many views in a period of time as they used to. I myself have been a bit scarce due to frustrations with figuring this out, but my loyalness to RT has me coming back more frequently now. I will get used to it after some time. I still do like the old set-up better, but maybe with some time, I'll favor this one more. I have yet to be able to load a picture, and still haven't been able to do some of what I used to... but I will slowly figure it out. I hope that the forums pick up again, and it gets more active in here soon.

Mental note - change not good....change not good....change not good :D

I guess I just don't understand how this change has affected everybody so negatively. I still do everything that I use to do on here, with no problems. This isn't the first time they've redone the entire thing, I've been here through 3-4 renovations before, and this is the first time I've ever seen people posting that they didn't like it. Oh well, i'm done rambling now. Hopefully everything does get better for those of you who are having problems.

HANG IN there Ken ... things will get fixed.. ;)

Remember tho Spring time is here and good weather, some folks will spend more time outside rather in here posting... so the post counts and replies will fall of for a time being...

I'm sure glad you and others have decided to stick it out, and stay around because you would defintely be missed around here...;)

I must have been one of the lucky one's because most everything works for me,,, my pictures weren't a big deal to me because I mainly use photobucket. With that said tho I do understand the frustrations of those that lost thier photo's and are making due without the full function of the forums... I have to believe tho that everything will be fixed in due time...

If not we all can go on an IT Hunt ... :D :D

I also preferred the old style but I'm slowly getting used to this new look. Much better now that someone posted how to cut and paste in here. Even through the past changes the mechanics of using the forum were basically the same. Not this time though.

Like Luke, I use photobucket too along with RT so no biggie on posting pics. I'm still a little confused on what happened to some of my pics though since not one missing pic was in the 4,300 unassigned pics here.

I also don't care for the 4 pic limit that includes any smilies used. :(:(

I like the new setup. At first I was not sure but now that I have used it I like it.:)

I will agree with the post counts down.

I am in the category of spring weather aka turkey season so I have not been on as much.

As for the pictures post isn't it the same as it always was...

Ken copy the img code off of photobucket(the very bottom box on photobucket) and paste it into the post box and bam picture..Thats all I do.;):)

I would bet that views are down because of the new post preview that you can get by hovering over a topic. I know that I open less threads because of it, not good # wise but saves me time when cruising the forums.

I do use photobucket...it is getting it to POST in here, not save the image to my account.

You're not alone Ken. I'm having the same problem. I tried to post pics Sunday, of an awesome 3D course we shot, and I couldn't get my photobucket images to work either. I just gave up. Also, still don' see the smileys anywhere. I'm still not sold on the new format.

I think on the first page Luke give step by step on how to turn the smileys on:D

As for the pics if your using photobucket just copy and paste the image code into the post area on the forum.

You can do it!!:)

Buckee just walked me through the smileys :p ..Thanks buddy! :D

As for the photo bucket images, I know how to copy the code, but it wouldn't work, all that showed was the URL. After following buckees instructions to change the setting to see smileys, I was able to post the pics using the photobucket code. Maybe it had something to do with the setting changes.

I've noticed the same thing sometimes when trying to post a picture. Sometimes I get the picture, but sometimes it will come up as the picture while making my post, but when I make it, it shows up as just the address. I don't know what's up with that. No ryme or reason really.

I don't mind the change but what I can't stand is the main page now takes longer to load than the old one and you can't access the menu options until it's all loaded. It's poor programming design to put so much stuff on the first page people leave because they get tired of waiting or avoid the main page all together.

Guest MrsRandy

I'm not on the forum as much as I like, to say what I like/dislike about all the changes. Yes, it was a shocker to me being that the last set-up was all I was used to (new to the forums). But after a little time, I figured some things out and it's OK. I think change is just hard for anyone... give it time. I will also agree, now that the weather is nicer.. more people are outdoors than in. My son hasn't even been playing his PS2 in weeks:D !

use photobucket.

Some of us cannot use Photobucket at work.

I have noticed the the number of registered users logged on has been very low. I often used the "who's online" function on the old forum, so I know after 3 years how many were logged on at certain time of the day. Now many of the rooms have 1 or 2 people or no one at all. The new forums has definately scared people away. If you look at the threads about one's age and you will see that the average age is about 40 here at Realtree. This is definately not the computer literacy age and if people struggle...they will leave. I have personally spoken to forum members who have moved on because the new forums are too complicated. You will pick up new members and swell the ranks again but I will miss my friends. I have to agree with Ken on this one.

People left the forum because of this new format?:(

Give it a little time Ken. In the long run the changes will work out for the better. These forums have come a long way since the early days, and the changes while they may be a headache to get used to, always end up for the better in the end.

While you may be right about changes having some effects, think this time of the year things do tend to be a bit slow. It will pick up, I have no doubts.
