Most everyone is aware of what the weather was like for a good deal of the country on Tuesday night - severe. Wednsday morning I slept in till about 7 before I got up, got ready and headed out in the rain. I checked a few fields but I had a good idea where the birds would be. When I finally got around to where I thought they would be hanging out I wasn't disappointed. I set up in a wooded fenceline between 2 grass fields. The grass field behind me had 2 longbeards out in it and the field in front of me had 1 longbeard with his harem of 10 hens out at about 100 yards. I had picked up several calls from the RT forum members this year and with seeing this guy with all his hens I knew what i needed to do. I just sat back in the fenceline and would take out one call, do some soft clucking and purring, then switch to the next call and do the same thing and just started rotating through all my calls. Evidently I ended up sounding like a slightly larger harem than what he had because I got them all working slowly towards me. I knew they weren't going to be running in due to the weather so I just took my time. Took them a little over an hour to work into range, I waited to get some good separation between him and the hens and I dropped him with some Remington Hevishot.

22#'s, 11" beard and after a more accurate measurement 1-1/8" spurs.

Here I am with my hen chorus thanks to Strut10, Redbeard, alex30808, bowhunter56 and huntn4bucks
