What is your opening day strategy? Have you already located the birds you want to hunt? What is your morning routine?

I have yes located the turkeys I am going after, they are on 680 acres of private property that boarders stateland. Can't seem to get their pattern down except that they gobble every other day, and tuesday is their day to gobble.

We will get up around 4 am, eat breakfast and drink lots of coffee, fill the thermous up and head out around 4:30. We have a long walk (about a mile) to get to where we want to be. Then around 6:30 am when we haven't heard any birds, we will fall asleep and take a nap. lol

First I need to loose this darn cold! I too have been behind since I got day shift, the only thing bad about it! The birds are always in this mountain we hunt, so hopfully going out blind this year wont be a problem. There is a newly cleared field which my father and I seem to agree it will attract more birds! Hope we are right! I plan to get up early and be in my blind an hour before light. Good luck all!

I have the photo uploaded on Picture Post. But I can't get it to come up from the thumbnail so I can copy the address for over here. I'll get the pic over here as soon as it'll work.

Anyhow...... he's 20 lb. 9 oz. with a 10 1/8" beard and 3/4" spurs. No monster. But felt awfully good to pull the trigger on him after having to sit last year out totally. ;)

Congrats on the bird Strut!

Our strategy is.... just to go to a place that is notirious for holding BIG gobblers :).

We go every year to the same apple orchard in 3J and the surrounding woods, usually by 8am someone has a tom down.

We have a favorite rock that we like to nap on. It gets real hot in the sun and holds the heat. It makes a perfect place to nap;)
