sportsman2500
With the Georgia season coming to a close in two weeks and me getting married on the same day. I elect to get away from the house and put yard work away for one more day. I had been talking to my cousin who hunts some land that joins our company land and they had not heard a bird all day. SO me not wanting to just sit at home I decide to go on and try to find a bird to hunt in the morning. I get to the land get my stuff ready and head toward a foodplot that normally has birds around in the area. I never tried to get one to shock gobble and never called on my way to the plot. I got to the plot and see a bird out in the plot and start crawling towards him. The grass being about waiste high and the wind blowing a good bit really helped out. I crawl about 20 yards and look up and see no bird so i figured he had feed his way to the woods. I go back to gather all my stuff and head on down the edge of the plot to find a place to maybe call him back. At the time I had no idea what kind of bird it was. Just before i sat down i turn to check my view into the plot when a RED head catches my attention. so i ease to the ground and shed my vest and crwl towards the bird. Again wind and tall grass being a huge help. When i saw him he was probably 50-60 yards soi crawled about 20 yards closer and raise to my knees and drop him at 34 steps!! Big bird DOWN!! I think you could have heard me in the next county i was hollering soo much and soo loud!! he measured 10 3/8 in beard 1 1/8 spurs and 20# My picture is too big and I have dailup(uhhh) i will e-mail them to a mod. and get him to post them in the submission part.
