I have shot 2 deer with my bow this year. A 130 inch ten and a management screwed up one antler buck. I shot both with the 100 grain 3 blade. I had a marginal shot on my big buck. He was quartering and I got him in the liver and a bit of one lung. The muzzy opened him up and I had a great blood trail to my kill he went 100 yards. And the shot was a complete pass though with 55LBS from my fred bear vapor 300 bow at 19 yards. I shot my second one perfect right behind the shoulder and ANOTHER COMPLETE PASS THOUGH at 22 yards with the same bow. The only thing was with the perfect shot it only left a few drops of blood. the deer was 100 yards away and the only time he bleed was the last ten yards. Boy he bleed it looked like somebody threw 3 gallons of blood on the ground, but i had only 50 drops of blood for 50 yards the size of a pea. I found the deer because I thought I knew where he fell so I started walking and spotted him.

The thing is the only reason I had such and easy time finding my huge 10 point was because of the broadhead and the reason I had such a bad blood trail on my pefect shot deer was because of the broadhead.

So since I love muzzy broadheads and some of there performance will the 4 bladed broadhead do better? I have moved my poundage to 64lbs too.

i have been shooting Muzzys for 6 years now.. they are second to none in my book..

its more than likely that your second deer just ran and the lungs didnt fill up fast enough to produce a good blood trail until you got close to the deer.

i had the same thing happen to my doe this year.. i made a good shot and she only went 50 yds . but there wasnt much blood for the first 40 yds.. then blood everywhere...i was shooting Muzzy 75s...

i say keep shooting them. your obviously getting good accuracy and congrats on your bow kills....

Muzzy's are awesome broadheads. I thought about giving the G5 one more try, but I always like to try to line up my blades and vanes. If I switch from the hunting to practice Montec, chances are they won't line up the way I want it to. With Muzzy's, I just take out the hunting blades and put in practice blades.

I've shot both 3 blades and 4 blades. They are both very accurate when your bow is tuned properly. I did shoot a deer with the 4-blade, and it really whooped on it! grin.gif

Blood trails are tricky, the broadhead is not the only factor that makes for a good/bad trail. If the shot is a little forward, for example, there can be no blood at all, it all stays inside.

Obviously your shooting them good, and that's the most important thing, stick with what works.

I had the same deal with Magnus Stingers 100 grain 4 blades. Shot 2 does this year that died within yards of each other. The first went 35 yards with barely any blood. The second went about 40 yards and sprayed blood everywhere. Both complete pass throughs, just one didn't bleed much.

Was thinking of changing broadheads after the first left so little blood, but after the 2nd, I can't complain at all. Nor can I explain it.

I hope to keep hitting them good.
