How would you grade your teams draft?

So far how have they done? I think the Lion's screwed up again. I love the pick at number 2, going with Calvin Johnson. But what were they thinking trading out of the 34th pick to the 43 to take Drew Stanton!!! They need LB help and they could have taken Posluszny out of Penn St. I will give the Lions a C+ but they could have had an A.

i kind of like the picks the Lions have made so far....they needed to make their secondary better and i think they did. Calvin johnson was a great pick even if he is a WR, and the Stanton pick up was good IMO...Kitna won't be around much longer...MAYBE 2 years, Stanton could step in for him possibly after next year. Stanton is a good QB, he was held back by coaching at MSU...he was the only bright spot on that michigan state team. i give them a B+.

Always hard to predict but I give my Raiders an A. I think they had some solid picks for both the O and D. However having the #1 choice didn't hurt. I also think Cleveland got really lucky being able to trade for that late #1 round pick to get Quinn--hopefully he won't have too many games like his last college game.

Typical Millen, pick another WR and QB!!! I think we could have used Thomas!

O well, we bomb this year them maybe, just maybe Millen will be GONE!!!

He forgets, you need a line to protect your quarterback and Kitna has to scramble on every play and what is the end result? lead the league in interceptions!!!

at the end of the season, Thomas would have been a great pick...2 months ago he would have been the sure pick for the lions....but this year they have actually shopped around, thomas would have still been a good pick, but they have picked up a handful of lineman in free agency and through trades...most were starters on the teams they came from. they may have been "typical" millen picks, but this year they actually made sense...they could have taken Quinn, but they knew there were going to be at least 2 quality QBs available in the second round, so they took the sure thing in calvin johnson, it could have went a couple different ways...A) they draft him and get some good trade offers from other teams that wanted him...B) they keep him, both winning situations IMO. i see them having a 6-7 win season, and hopefully being in position to draft michigans jake long next year to replace a veteran lineman to get a little youth on the line. as for drafting stanton....another good pick, in a year or 2 he'll take over for kitna, with martz running the offense, he will learn a lot, as i said before, i think he was held back by the coaching at MSU.

I give my Dolphins a F. They passed on a QB of the future and chose a WR that is injured and can't even show up at the first mini-camp. WHAT THE ****??? Then they have the nerve to choose a QB in 2nd round(JOHN BECK??). I know they probably will end up w/Trent Green...another aging QB that will not perform long enough for them to reach contender level... BIG FAT "F"....

Not only did Stanton get held back by the coaching but they asked him to pretty much do everything on that team and carry all of the load which basically helped him force all the mistakes he made. The Tandem with Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson will be hard to stop. I look for the Lions Qbs to have a pretty good year this year.

I'd give the Steelers a B- C+. They did address almost all of the positions they needed to address. I just dont know much about the guys they picked. The one pick I really hated was taking a TE in the 3rd round, other then that though most picks made sense.

Oakland, Cleveland, and Arizona I think had the best drafts.

C.

Was hoping for a trade up. Also, P. Willis would've been much better with the 12th pick, but Lynch will have to do. Not too sure if we wouldn't have been better off taking Pittman or Bush later in the draft?

Like Poslunski(sp?) and for some odd reason, I really like the Trent Edwards pick. He may overtake Losman in the next two years.

Dwayne Wright was a head scratcher. Would've liked another LB/CB type pick.

Jags did so-so. We got a first round pick with Reggie Nelson from Florida.( Safety) And 3rd round pick with Mike Walker from Hampton. ( WR)

And a few BIG old boys that Del Rio is so famous for signing.

I really, really liked what Savage did. Time will only tell what we gave up for Quinn, but I liked the approach he took. You can't worry about the future, you have to make the moves that make sense today and today alone. I'd go with an A for them.

Raiders had a great draft I thought, and I actually really liked the Bengals first two picks in Hall and Irons, although I'm not sure why they needed another RB??

Worst drafts had to be the Lions and Texans, big surprise.:D

I would have to give the Packers a solid D+. They take a DT that hasn't played in a year when there was a help now Safety in Reggie Nelson just sitting there. Then you don't get any help for Favre. I think he is going to regret coming back, yet again. Thompson is a grade A idiot.

I thought the Browns and the Panthers had the best drafts.

I actually thought the Lions did a pretty good job. Calvin Johnson and Drew Stanton in the first two rounds looks pretty frickin good to me.

Stanton sucks...Beck and Trent Edwards were better options IMO. And, are you forgetting the fact that they took another WR?? Sure, Calvin Johnson is the stud of this year's draft, but the Lions have a ton of holes to fill and WR is not their primary concern. They needed to trade out of that pick which ever way they could have. Could have added picks and address more pressing concerns.

I know its another first round WR, but who else are they going to take at #2 if they couldn't trade down?

I agree they should have traded down, if some of the rumors were true about the offers they were getting they are complete fools to have not traded that pick. But they ended up with the best player in the draft and a pretty good QB. Not to bad.

You can have all the high profile guys you want, but the games are won and lost in the trenches. Kevin Jones hasn't produced in years, and now he has foot issues. Their O-line is terrible, their defensive backfield is devoid of talent...actually they need help at almost every defensive position.

I'm sure they could have made some sort of trade and still landed some bluechip talent. I know hindsight is 20/20 but they could have traded down and got Quinn late. Pretty much any other positon makes more since then WR, but they'll get a pass because he was the #1 guy on most boards.

When you've been done as long as they have, you have to address needs in my opinion. And if you have a guy that people are salivating over...you make that trade...even if you think the deal isn't exactly what you should get for him.

The way I look at it, this is the WR they had to take. The last 4 were the mistakes. Not this one. They just cant pass on the best player in the draft because they screwed up the last 4 or 5 drafts.

They only had two options in my mind. Trade down or take Johnson. The best option was to trade down, but since they didn't they had to take Johnson. Nobody else on the board was worth a #2 pick.

this was a a good draft for the lions, not great, the only posittions they need help on Defense is CB and liddle linebacker...the D-line is solid and young. the o-line, they have picked up 3 or 4 lineman from trades and free agency, RBs when kevin jones gets healthy he'll be their starter...even so, they picked up a few RBs in the offseason as well, tatum bell i think will be their starter and i think he'll be pretty good. Stanton was one of the top QBs in the draft, he was held back at MSU by lack of coaching and talent around him and IMO he didn't get a chance to reach his full potential, i give him a year and mike martz will have in turned into a solid, maybe not great, starting QB and replacing kitna, and the Calvin johnson pick, well thats just a win win for them, they could have got something for the pick, or they could have kept it a taken him, either way they win, they aren't to deep at WR...other than Roy williams, they really don't have anyone, other than mike furry, but who is he, he had a great year last year after catching 0 passes the year before (was a DB in st louis) but you never know, he could have had his career year last year and never do anythign again...they still have some holes to fill, who knows how the other 2 second rounders will turn out, or the other guys they picked up in the draft, but thats what trades and free agency is for.
