Guest Buckfever1613
I am looking to clear out an area of land to create a new food plot. I am looking to clear between 2 and 3 acres. My question is if you could build a plot to any shape what would it be. Would you have a big square or irregular shape or what. Also would it be a good idea to make 2 smaller plots seperated by a twenty yard wide woodline to give the deer a funel. Any information would be great. And if i decided to do an hour glass shape how wide should the pinch point be.
Guest BearTrackFarms
I would not worry about the shape...deer don't care and it ain't a beauty contest! I would make it in the shape that the land would allow...but in a shape that makes it easy to work with a tractor!
Ravin R10 man
hour glass pinch point should be whatever you are comfortable shooting with your bow. a boomerang plot works great too, or an L shape

wtnhunt
Yep, replied in your other thread. Think how narrow your plot or the pinch point is should be determined by how far you plan to shoot. As mentioned L shaped plots with a stand near the inside corner would work well for hunting plots too.
QDMAworks4me
My father and I just created a 1 acre clearing which is in a rectangular shape, we took about 450 trees out (sapplings and bushes). We left 75 feet of brush all the way around it. We did this because it was the only shape that would fit where we wanted it. I would think that you have to look at what type of land you have and go from there.
