MichiganHunter
I'm tryin to build a hunting blind for the top of my 12 foot falt bottom tracker boat and i would like any imput on what works and what dont. if any of you have good ideas please let me know. i got lots of time before next season so i can take my time building it...i would like the blind to come off of the boat so i can use it for fishing and i dont really want to drill a bunch of holes in it....but other than that i'm up for about anything...well accept spending like a ton of money(i'm in college so i'm working on kind of a tight budget)
coles
i dont know exactly how they are made but look up the design on the Avery Quick Set blind. i was lookin into getting one or making one for my 17 foot flat bottom boat a couple years ago. they look like a good solid design that you can leave on the boat folded down for trailering. if you need more info just drop me a pm and ill see what i can find out. Guest realtrhunter
I am planning on using aluminium or steal 1" tubing to make a frame that comes up from the boat at an angle and leaving enough space at the top to come up through. On the sides I am also going to rig some hindges so part of the sides can flip down when you shoot or are motoring to your spot. I am thinking that I am going to attach it to the boat by welding some plates to braces that come down the sides and drilling holes in the side and bolting it on, you can then take it on and off. I am going to use a heavy duty tarp that is wind and water proof that is covered with camo fabric or painted to skin the boat. With this as the skin you can role it up while traveling and also have it out of the way when setting & picking up decoys. I havent really sat down and drawn the plans out all the way yet. If you want a rough sketch send me a message with a contact and Ill draw one up.
Covehnter
Sounds like you're wanting to do a little something like this. . . . it was a "do it yourselfer" we had on the old boat a couple years ago. I've lost some of the pics i once had uploaded on it but heres what i've got, you can probably get the framework of what we did. This is the frame. . . . . we put grass mats on the frame during the season, the lshort support bars are leaned on screw heads on the cross bars so we had 3 different adjustments on how high we wanted the front for diff. situations. You lifted them over the screw heads and the mats folded inside the boat and the blind folds flat against the rails. We also put the drop down section on the back cross bar b/c we ran it with a long tail mud motor. You can kind of see how it's lays flat once the support bars are removed in this pic. Covehnter
Another small glimpse of how it folds down and how the grass folded into the boat for traveling, so . . . . still not a good pic for the blind.
