borch
Well I've decided to put my new toy to work and turn some slate calls and strikers. Here's some of my early work. Later I'll get a picture of a glass over glass that I made for my dad's birthday with a picture of his gobbler from last spring. All are slate over glass. A couple Black Walnut and a Red Cedar. The strikers are Paduak, Purpleheart, Cherry and Hickory. I can't wait to share them with the local turkeys.

elnor
I've been admiring the pots and strikers you posted about and wondering where one goes to get information on making slate calls? I've made wingbone calls and seen kits and how-tos for box calls, but not come across any resources on pots and strikers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. borch
I've got my information from several places. There's several great resources here and I've got a lot of useful information from Alex's, redbeards and other posters as well. The nwtf board also has a lot of call making info in the call makers forum. There are several ways of making them. Many use a lathe but some have figured out other ways of doing it. I'll be trying out a couple of the new calls in hunting situations starting tomorrow morning. Good Luck!
