5SHOT
My dad and I went back to where my son shot the boss on Saturday knowing there was two more longbeards to hunt. Boy where they cranked up. I guess with the boss not there to keep these boys in check they were enjoying there new found freedom. Right before flydown the hens really got cranked up and the two longbeards gobbled so hard and long they started to lose their voices. A couple of times they would triple and quadruple gobble and actually stop mid gobble to catch their breath. All this with them roosted about 60 yards away. That in itself was an awesome experience. Then it came to flydown time and one hen and one of the longbeards flew down first. The longbeard immediately went into a full strut directly in front of me. Both my dad and I could of taken the shot but we both held out to see if we can get a double. The second longbeard flew down and started to strut also side by side with his brother and it was impossible to shoot knowing if you shot you would have a two for one deal and thats not cool so by the time they separated they were heading to my left and were starting to get out of range but the back gobbler gave me one last look and I took the shot and he immediately went down. My 11-87 with remington Hevishot #5's did the deed at 48 yards. The gobbler had a thick 9.25 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Here is a picture with my dad and a picture with my 4 kids who were waiting for the bus when daddy showed just in time to show them the bird:
