Rage Broadheads?

Recommended Posts

ok, i had a post asking about the muzzy MX-3 broadheads, but after doing some searching and reading, i think...no, i am positive, i am going to give the Rage 2-blades a try...they just look lethal, i know shot placement is key, but from what i have seen and read, the entry and exit holes are huge. anyone shoot these or the 3 blades?

I am also thinking of giving them a try this year. One of the shops around here said that they couldn't keep them in stock last year and that it was all the Rage company could do to keep up with shipments last year. My only concern is that it is still an expandable BH.

you are probably right about the rages being a hot broadhead again this year, but i hear the muzzy MX-3 is a nice one as well, i had thought about trying those out until i seen some pics of deer shot with a rage, but now i think i will be trying both of them out and deciding which one i am going to use before the season starts.

Well i picked up a pack of 3 blade rage's today..first one out of the pack flew just like i wanted it to, only one problem...Rage broadhead+Morrell yellow jacket broadhead target=Not Good...not thinking aboutwhat the broadhead would do coming out of the target, i shot it in to it, could see a nice cutting diameter like they say...but i bent one of the blades pretty good....overall i really like them though, they are really sharp out of the package...i plan on getting some 2 blades and some muzzy mx-3's to try out as well

I agree. Broadheads are great at opening HUGE holes in the animal, but the problems with blades bending/breaking when shot into/through targets is not just an issue with the Morrell Yellow Jacket. I was using a Readhead layered target this past summer and (shooting Rage 2 blade model) snapped 1 blade completely off of 1 BH, bent a few more, and had one BH snap completely into down inside the arrow shaft. This target had been shot all summer, so was pretty soft, unlike when it was brand new. I have personally spoken with 2 other people that had the same issues with these broadheads while using Block targets. I did kill 2 deer with them, and they made quick kills, but the BH could not be shot again. Also the small cutting blade on the tip of the arrow, will not hold up to much abuse from impacting bones and such. As I said great cutting performance, but I'll be switching this year...leaning toward the Tekan expandables right now.

the blades bent just pulling them out of the target? what going to happen on a deers rib bone? that doesnt sound to good.

at least your doing your testing now and not 2 weeks before the season. i have found what shoots best for me and is a proven producer. just find what works best for you and then stay with it. we as bowhutners change to much stuff in my opinion.:D

they way they are set up, i should have known they would be tough to get out of the target..not the heads fault, it is mine...fixed blades and other mechanicals (grim reapers are the ones i have shot), pull right out because you can back them right out of the same hole in the target, the way the rage heads are designed, it would be hard to do. going through the ribs on a deer should be no problem.
