Bears got Leak

I'm not sure how to take this.....I really like Leak, but I'm a huge fan of Rex Grossman as well. So I'm a bit nervous about Leak coming onto the team, after winning the BCS Championship and all. I'm sure Chris would make a great back-up to Rex, and I hope Lovie realises this as well

Your thought of him being taked as a free agent? Mine are, "Wow, why didn't he go in the first round????????"

Take care,

Nathan

Leak probably would've gotten drafted if he would've went pro after his sophomore year, but the longer he stuck around the more negatives he started getting labeled with.

Plus it doesn't help that he's not your prototypical quarterback at less then 6 foot.

Leak a first rounder? Not even close. I think he is better then most give him credit for but not a first rounder. No way. I think its a good signing by the Bears anyway. You bring him in and see what he can do, maybe you get lucky and he's a lot better then you thought. If not, you cut him. There aren't many risks involved with these FA signings.

Leak doesn't have the pro game. He won't even make their roster this season, he may be able to make the practice squad though.

He's short, slow, and has no arm.

Just the opposite of Troy Smith, who Leak and crew made look like he was slow, and without an arm:D :D :D

Hmmm, 2 Ex Gator QB's on the same team, wonder what that will bring. Gonna be interesting, for sure

Troy Smith, Chris Leak, and Tim Tebow are all excellent college QB's...but they're not NFL caliber QB's. I'm sure John, a fellow knowledgable sports fan will agree.

I'm also sure Chris Weinke, Doug Johnson, Jason White, Danny Wuerrffell (spelling?) will all agree with me too.;):D

Seeing how Tim is only a sophomore, then no, he probably wouldn't make a good NFL QB. But I am sure that with a little more experience under his belt.....he will not only make a fine NFL QB, but a STARTER his first year as well.

What do you suppose we wager on that one? Our mortgages?:D

Actually, I'm not even sure he'll be a starter for the Gators soon, considering the recruiting Ohio boy Urban Meyer is pulling off down there.;) He'll me a gimmick/ situational type guy. I do here he's developing his pocket passing, and he's a good fit for Meyer's spread offense so he's definitely got the leg up for the job at UF...but the guy's not an NFL QB.

Leak starting as an NFL rookie is as outlandish as Chris Leak going in the first round. btw- outlandish is a fun word...look for muggsy to use it more in '07.

I can't believe you have to provide a reason for editing.

Anyway...............Muggsy, when your famed Browns become the so-called wonderful team you seem to think they are or "will be" then you can spout your predictions about other teams' players.;):D x10.

You do realize the Browns are a famed, storied franchise, right? Second most professional football titles next to the Green Bay Packers...yet another storied, famed franchise. True, the Browns were burned by a greedy owner...but they'll be back. Meanwhile, the Jags will be...well, they'll still be the Jags. Gimmicky teal uni's...lame name...playing in retirement community.

Up here, well up here is Browns Town...a hard drinkin, steel workin, red meat eatin town. Football was born in a place like this, it thrives in a place this...football is a place like this. Jacksonville is good for Nothern Blue Hairs to retire to...nuttin' else my dear.

btw- thanks John.

Ding, Ding, Ding...Andrea comes up with the winning idea.:):D :D :p

Yep, I think you'd make a fine little brown and orange elf. Not sure you'd like the tights, but seeing how much of a die-hard fan you are, I'm sure you won't mind the sacrifice. :D :D

Man Andrea...you're lucky this is a family site...because there's about a million ways I could go with this one from here. None of which would ever be referred to as "classy" or "in good taste" so I'm bowing out of this one.:D x10

btw- the Elf is all knowing and all powerful...fear the Elf!!1:D

Leak is a heck of a quaterback, great mechanics and instincts. I've watched him play since his sophomore year in HS here in Charlotte. His only drawback, and the reason he wasn't drafted in my opinion is his size. He's about 4-5 inches shorter than the league average for QB's. But look what Doug Flutie did. There's always that posibility that he'll get his chance. I hope he succeeds in the NFL. Go Chris!

Chris Leak will be a good NFL QB. They could always roll him out of the pocket if they had to. I like Chris Leak. I believe most of the negatives of his college career was cause by having I believe 2-3 differenct coaches.

When the NFL starts keeping "Throws that hit lineman in the backs" as a stat, then Leak will be a good NFL QB. Perhaps he can be just like Flutie, a Canadian hero. He never lasted longer than 3 or 4 games in a row in the NFL. He was better when he came off the bench when the starter got hurt. And that was because the defense couldn't believe there was a little person playing QB.
