wtnhunt
I prefer ladder stands myself. If you can find an area they tend to funnel into the field, that would be where I would start to look to setup my stand for bow hunting. I would probably set a couple stands, one back in the woods off a trail where the deer may stage in the evenings, and one somewhere on the edge of the field. Would also look at setting one on a travel route back to bedding areas for in the mornings.
bowtech
I am with wtnhunt... put up a few stands aif you got them and try and see which one you tend to see more deer at .. you can always move stands if you have to but to much moving of them may be a down fall, you may even try a climber if you have one
buckbuster11
I would definately throw out the tripod idea if I was bowhunting. To big and bulky. Ladder stands are nice, but one that is going to get you 16 to 17 feet high is going to be a little tricky to setup. If you have help it shouldnt be a problem though. I'd go with that if you are pretty sure you aren't going to move it. If you are thinking you might need to eventually move it, I'd go with a hang-on stand or just hunt with a climber. johnf
I would probibly put up several stands. I would put one 40-50 yards into the woods just off the trails for bow hunting. That way the big ones that are staging before sundown will go past you. I would set up another one on the edge of the tress but close enogh to the trail for a bow shot. Then I woud put up two more on the edge that will give you a good long shot out in the field for morning or evening with the sun at your back in each stand. Guest Kelby Wright
there is only one problem, the guy we lease the farm ground from just gave me permission to hunt the edge since him and his grandson hunt in side the woods but i have walked all the trails and none of them go by any of there locations there closest stand to one of the trails is probably 250 or 300 yards.
