MichiganHunter
I droped a deer off last deer season on the 20th two days after is shot the buck and now my taxidermist is saying he is further and further behind...when do i draw the line or should I? I really love my guys quality of work it is all him and his wife do for a living...I dont konw if that is normal for the length of time to get pushed back? I have had several fish done and it only too a month or two to get back is it normal for the deer to take a year or a little more?
Nick
I took one in on December 10th 2005 and never got him back until March of 2007. I took a turkey in to the same guy on April 28th of 2006 and still havnt heard anything on that. Maybe its just Michigan taxidermists.... ilhnter
The taxidermist that we use in So. Illinois has about a 6 month turn a round on deer. My brother took one 2 years ago and we got it back about 7 months later. I took one to him on Nov. 17 and haven't heard anything yet, but I should be hearing back from him pretty soon. Tom2008
A lot of times people don't get there deer back till the next deer sesaon or a little later. There is no point in "drawing the line" with your taxidermist. They do get very busy and it takes time. My grandpa's 2005 November 8 point did not come back until the 2006 November firearm season. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
i think it all depends on how early in the season it is and how "popular" your taxidermist is....if it is someone who everyone knows about and wants to do work for them, it'll take a while..and the farther you get in to the season the more customers he gets and the longer it will take...my cousin had one about 5 years ago he took in and got it back in about 7 months...then a couple years later he took one in, to the same guy, and it took a little over a year to get it back. its not unusual for it to take a year or a bit longer to get em back. LifeNRA
Shoot a MONSTER buck and most times they keep it a bit longer to show off thier skills and also enter them into contests! The guy I go to does this on the side, I usually get the mounts back in four months! The big time guys will be a lot longer! The shortest I got one back was two months!!! RTF
Anything over 1 year is not acceptable. 6 to 12 months is the norm. Getting a fish back in 1 or 2 months is way too fast and I would have to question that.
wtnhunt
Taxidermist we use, would expect to wait from 9-12 months before getting your deer back.
Guest Hunter36
My taxidermist takes a year for deer give or take a month or two. Not sure about other species I think about the same though.
