VermontHunter
Re: How about a turkey Contest??? Thanks for the offer Ryan, but I think I'm going to hold off a bit and see what comes up...My father-in-law showed some intrest in this springs turkey hunt so maybe he'll spring for the blind... snapper
Re: How about a turkey Contest??? [ QUOTE ] I can shoot a tom at 50 yards with my shotgun! Not getting a turkey in at 20 yards or so pulling your bow back and getting a good shot ona turkey with you bow! [/ QUOTE ] You don't have to shoot that bird at 50 yards...could wait til he's at 10 yards and shoot him with a shot gun! I understand your idea...but where do you draw the line. Some spieces of birds are more pressured and there for harder to kill. Do you give out more points to certain subspieces? I feel you can use whatever weapon you choose and the bird will be scored on the NWTF scoring system only. Just easier to keep it fair. RyanH
Re: How about a turkey Contest??? Yea I agree with you! But Its your choice to hunt with a bow! I think it would make the contest more interesting you know! Like 5 point on top of you NWTF score! I think it would make it better! Just stateing my opinion! LOL just think about it! borch
Re: How about a turkey Contest??? Sorry no bonus points for bowhunters. The weapon used is the choice of the individual hunter. It's all about the personal challenge! If fact last year the bowhunters had at least as high of a success rate as the gun hunters. You guys must just be that good. snapper
Re: How about a turkey Contest??? RyanH, I think its a great idea...but we need to keep the rules simple and fair. It would be neat to see bonus points, but eventually it would get out of hand and start giving bonus points to those who use single shots, pumps instead of semi's, points to those who don't use blinds, etc... Its just easier to keep the rules simple and hunt however its legal in your state.
RyanH
Re: How about a turkey Contest??? I know, I Know! Keep it simple! Its just a awesome thing when you got a bird 20 yards! You draw with your bow and release the arrow! WOW, thats something! I have not even done it yet! I have tried, Its just HARD!! Thats the only way im getting a bird this year! borch
Re: How about a turkey Contest??? [ QUOTE ] I hit a turkey a 20 yards last year with my Bow it was great. Awesome, To bad it was just the one I set up for my TargetLOL!!!!! [/ QUOTE ] I shot a nice tom at 10 yards with my shotgun once. Hit it in the neck with the shot wad too. That must be worth bonus points. I mean killing a bird with your shot wad. Borch
