Swamphunter
I am having a problem keeping the weeds and grass from covering my access road into my hunting land. The weeds and grass keep the ground moist and soggy all year, causing it to rut when I drive on it. What product kills all the grass and weeds for a season? wtnhunt
Either ortho or roundup one, maybe both, have a product out that is supposed to be a "complete kill" that will keep the vegetation gone all year. If the ground is pretty flat killing off all the vegetation is not a bad idea, however if it is prone to wash, may not be a great idea as the grass and weeds might be keeping it from washing out. I use glyphosate(generic roundup) along our driveway on our fencerows here, and where I have electric fence. Works well for me, usually two early applications this time of the year, and then one later on in the summer is all I need.
2labs
That would be round up, I would not kill all as this keeps everything together. You will end up with some severe erosion, it may be better to put in some tile or drain diches to carry the water away.
deerslayer79
2labs has a good point about the erosion,be careful about attacking it full force, but if erosion isn't a issue rock on.I work for a weed and brush control company and do many access roads and right-of-ways and if total kill is wanted with lasting effects we go with a mix of Round-Up pro concentrate at 3qts per 100 gals of water,2-4-d amine at 2qts per 100gals,and some type of pre-emergent such as endurance, escort,at a rate of 2-8oz per 100gals,now those two are wettable powders so slurry them before dumping into tank, and we also use liquid pre-emergents like surflan and simazine at 2qts per 100gals.We usually get a 100% kill rate the first go round and a residual effect of 6-8 months but that varies due to amount of rainfall, the more heavy, frog strannglin rain you get the residual effect will be shortened. Guest turfman
There is a product called KillzAll which kills even roundup resistent vegetation....I will look in my shop and verify the spelling of the name....
Guest turfman
Try KillsAll This product kills even roundup resistant weeds....I will try to verify spelling of the name but it comes in a gallon jug and is for industrial use. I spray all my hard to kill weeds with it and it does a fabulous job....It is the only thing that I have ever been able to find to kill crepe myrtles as well... Guest CajunHunter_7
24D Try to get some 24d or Roundup you can buy REAL roundup at lowes for 115 bucks for 2.5 gal. ORTHO is an insecticide. I am a crop duster so I can get anything i want. Try to call your county agent for information about getting chemical.
Tominator
Ortho also makes a product called Brush-B-Gone. That stuff really works too. I use it to kill patches of Red Osier Dogwood on my property.
Rhino
Roundup should do the job if it's just grass and weeds growing in your road. If you have woody plants growing up in your road I'd suggest you try Brash. It's better than Roundup when it comes to woody type plants. We actually use a mix of both Roundup and Brash on our camp ATV roads but we also have a big problem with black locust trees growing in our roads during the summer along with the annual weed growth. Since the patent period has run out on Roundup's formula you can purchase an off brand of the same formula at ~1/3 or less of the price Roundup used to be. wtnhunt
ORTHO is an insecticide. Ortho brand produces both herbicides and insecticides under that label. "Brush-b-gone" is an ortho product and like Tominator suggests is very effective. Wal mart and lowes here both carry generics of glyphosate(roundup) and like Rhino mentioned they are less expensive. Guest CajunHunter_7
But you didnt say ortho brand You said Ortho not implying the brand Ortho is a shortened name for Orthene you buy as a oowder. If you would have said Ortho Brand makes a herbicide then I would have never said anything. I wasnt trying to be a smartty but if you want to make it sound like I was trying I can get cha. . All right soo its water under the bridge or over it qwhichever.

Not looking for an argument here, but to clarify this for you, my reply here did not imply anything of the sort . Seems pretty clear.
