Squirrelhunter91
Ok.. obviously the flash went off when it was still light out and it whited out most of the pic but not all of it. What kind of animal is that on the right?? I think it's a groundhog, but not sure. I got a pic of a groundhog in this plot last week. wtnhunt
Dont know Joe. Played with the contrast and brightness just a bit real quick here. Maybe something from the weasel family. Body looks too big to be a marten or mink. Not too sure if there are any around you but maybe a badger or a wolverine?
PAstringking
i have two guesses to throw out there..... 1. Whistle Pig (groundhog) 2. Beaver
nolanspawn
Im seriously going to have to go with a turtle
Tom2008
Well I can tell you right now it is definatley not a turtle. The only other other big fluff ball I can think of is a groundhog.
wtnhunt
Well I can tell you right now it is definatley not a turtle. My first thoughts before playing with the contrast and brightness was also turtle, but after looking closer, there is no shell. Dont think it is a beaver either. Head shape is too tapered. Looks like there is some type of marking on the muzzle area too if you look close, a light band running around between the eyes and mouth? Buckslayer
I dunno for sure, but my guess is either a muskrat, or a weasel. Even considering everything everyone said above, I can't really tell. Its snout looks like it comes from the weasel family. It appears to be in mid-stride.
coles
i have never seen a muskrat that big!!!LOL...but i would have to go with a groundhog. its def. not a badger either.
deerslayer79
I say either a whistle pig or a wolverine, although if it is a ground piggy,he has got some long legs, all the groundhogs around my area are shortlegged turds...
bowtech
I think it kinda looks like a beaver
huntinguide
looks like an opposum
mehunter
My guess would be that it is a fisher.
woodshed
I think the legs are too long and strong for a groundhog. The head is small for that large torso. I think it's a wolverine! It's bigger than a groundhog and beaver also. Yep,, wolverine!! Awesome!!
Tom2008
Well that definatley can't be a weasel. Its a little on the big side for a weasel. I'm starting to lean towards a wolverine though. It is very possible.
buckee
Almost looks like one of them alligator turtles:D
Randy
My guess would be that it is a fisher.I'd go with that.
nolanspawn
If not a turtle, then a Nurtia is my second guess
Tominator
Definitely not a ground pig. I've never seen one that high off the ground. I'd have to go with Martin/Fisher, something like that, or, a skunk that doesn't have much white on it, or the white got bleached out with the overexposure. Guest Andrea
Looks like a skunk. The white stripe down his back is obscured by the flash.
Guest outdoorgirl
my guess would be a porcupine

double_H
cool picture! from my experience, it is not a wolverine, fisher, weasel, etc. if you've seen one travel, they look like a magic carpet (like they have no legs) if that thing stickin out the back is its tail, that rules out porcupine and possibly beaver. i don't know if turtles travel off the ground like that but based on the fact you have a previous pic of a groundhog, that would be my guess. We have to remember its NY, its probably a groundhog. Maybe a porcupine. Fishers are rare as are wolverines around this part of the country. It still wouldn't suprise me if it was a turtle, is there any water nearby?
Squirrelhunter91
There is a small stream that used to be dammed up about 100 yards away then there is a stagnant watering hole about 300 yards away. I'm thinking its either a groundhog or a porcupine. Either one it's gonna die this weekend. I'm gonna sit close by with a gun in hand. Guest Andrea
Turtles don't have a muzzle. Wish we had something for scale.
