I thought of them as (is that how you spell it, Chris?) at best and emotional blackmail at worst. While we were registering, I kept going for the "cheap stuff" and was really hesitant to register. Fast forward a few months... My fiancee's bridal shower was Sunday and I have just been blown away by the love and generosity that was shown to us. Not just the wonderful gifts, but the amount of effort that was put into this day is hard to believe. Given that I barely know any of these people, it's truly incredible. I'm not quite there--but I'm probably as close to speechless as I'll ever be...lol. Yeah, I agree on the shower thing, but I found out when the people I work with threw a shower for my wife when our first was due. Guest bucknutt Posted May 8, 2007 Report Share Posted May 8, 2007 i know what you're saying. i got married just over a week ago. after my wife's shower and the wedding, we had just over $2500 and who knows how much value in new stuff, after we took back everything we had double of we had another $500, and our extra bedroom is stacked full of stuff we simply have no room for in the house. i just recently heard about a 'grooms shower', where all the guy friends bought tools, hunting and fishing stuff, etc. pretty good idea if you ask me. ny_gun Posted May 8, 2007 Report Share Posted May 8, 2007 Groom Shower When I got married 2 years ago a few bridal showers were held for my wife. We also had a Couples Shower which I was not sure of at first but I basically ended up being a Groom Shower as all of the couples that attended gave us all sorts of tools and manly household items.
