TreeWalker
Lets use this thread to lay ourselves out before God....to share what burdens God has placed on our heart, or maybe thoughts and or ideas that may help out fellow Christians in their daily walk with Christ....or seeking him. It may also be used as a place to hold eachother accountable, and also to lift eachother up......Glory be to God. My conviction is this......for years as I read prayer requests, it had become second nature to quickly type a reply...if anything, but to comfort, but often I did not follow through with the prayer......I would either not find enough time or would forget altogether.....but God really laid this on my heart, that these peoples requests are genuine and that I should show them the respect that they deserved and the attention that they needed......after all, these prayer requests come from all walks and all denominations, but through us they are all coming to God........ So with that I say, how many of you are guilty of this......I am, but have realized how much I was possibly hindering God's ministry by not following through on something so simple as a prayer.....and how I was not ehlping my friends in need by not following through with what i had promised.... But when this room was conceived, I vowed to never let that happen again......now as I read each request I take care of God's business right then and there......and undoubtedly he is taking care of his end as well. It is silly to think that nobodies prayer holds power or weight, for through God anything is possible....
Guest Andrea
Good post!! I too have been guilty of that same thing. Not every time, but every now and then I will post a reply then get busy with something else and forget to actually pray. I find it's easy to say a very quick, though heartfelt prayer right away. God doesn't need anything poetic. He knows where your heart is.
TreeWalker
I agree Andrea...my heart is always in the right place, and my intentions are good...i just didn't always follow through......I'm making it a point to never let that happen again. Good post here. Must admit I have been guilty of this back in the past too Clay, but has more so been that I forget who it was that needed the prayer and what it was that the request was for specifically, not so much all together forgetting that I said I would say the prayer. When that happened granted I had not forgotten all together, I still tried to pray for "whoever" it was that needed the prayer, but that did not seem quite right even though often we do not know a name for who it is that the requests may be for. When I realized I was having problems remembering who I said I would say a prayer for, I felt pretty bad. Some really are pretty easy to remember and some of those are kept in my prayers pretty regularly along with the regular prayers I say for our soldiers. But for the ones that are not regular requests, what I try to do anymore especially if I think there may be a chance I might not remember is to take a minute usually right then and say a quick prayer while it is fresh on my mind. For whatever reasons it happens, we probably all have been caught up in saying we will do something and forgetting, I think that is just being human.
