Rut-Nut
Has anyone seen this tool or used it before? Just saw it in the new Cabela's archery catalog and it looks very ingenious! Just wondered if it worked as well as it looks. In case you haven't seen it, it is a plastic t-handled tool with 4 little "fingers" at the end that you insert into the anus and it catches on the membrane as you twist it. Then you pull it out and the anal canal comes out with it, just tie off and cut. That's how they describe it's use.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
yeah that was called the deer-e-ere last year, H.S. must have bought them out or something...either that or they just changed the name of it...looked interesting, but what i do is just find the anus...and cut around it about an inch or so away from it, in as far as my knife will go...after that, when you are gutting, it just pulls right out... there is a video on the deer-e-ere site showing it being used...http://www.deer-e-ere.com/ just scroll down until you see the link
wtnhunt
yeah that was called the deer-e-ere last year, Yep, read about that thing last year. Have seen the one in the cabelas catalog too. Take care of ours the same way mentioned above. If you try out this tool, let us know how it works for you.

bowin_in_illinois
I agree...it looks like it works good....but i've done ok without it. On a side note....if i were the guy in the video shovin' that thing up that deers butt...i'd have gloves on!
Hoosierbuck
That's pretty slick...for the anus. Problem is there is another thing to deal with down there on buck or does, and this thing won't get those items resolved, I don't think. Anybody have any speculative conjecture on that notion?? Indy-Travis
My wife bought me one as a joke, but I acutally used it on 6 deer last fall. It does work very well. What I found was it doesn't make the job much quicker, but does allow you to tie everything off quickly and easily, which made for a bit cleaner job, no spillage of the intestine contents in the deer at all. In the past I always cut everything free, but didn't take the time to tie it off, and often some contents would get into the deer when you pulled it through. It is pretty gimmicky, but it does work as advertised, if you field dress alot of deer in a season, it is a handy tool.
Hoosierbuck
But it leaves the urethra to deal with right, Travis? HB
Indy-Travis
yes, but it isn't a problem. That usually cuts free pretty easily.
