Matchthedeerslayer
Where would you rather put a tree stand? By a food plot or on the edge of a corn field or in the middle??????????
Tominator
Wherever there's the most sign.
Matchthedeerslayer
wel the best sign runs along a trail that leads to both places.
Tominator
wel the best sign runs along a trail that leads to both places. Then I'd pick the one that offers the best situation taking into account prevailing winds.
Guest Finn
wel the best sign runs along a trail that leads to both places. That's where I'd be.
magnatecsteve
The smarter bucks hold up in the woods and usually don't expose themselves in open fields till dark, so I would definately set up in the woods.
wtnhunt
Would also setup on trail with good sign in the staging area.
MichiganHunter
assuming the wind is in your favor where ever you are i would find the best spot between the two along a couple of trails...i'd like to see a couple trails coming together within 50 yards of my stand and i would like to be down range of where they join/split.....u might want to look into a nice digital scouting camera...i got one and i take it out find an area set it up than take my laptop out with another batt up-load the pics see what i got if its good i'll leave it if its crap i'll move it maby 200 yards near another trail to see if it is better.......dont forget your extra batt....it sucks to get out and have forgotten your extra batt...but i would say some where in between the two is the best spot. Tom2008
Everyone has basically said all you need to know. Choosing the more heavily used trail or the one that gives you the best possible conditions. I'd set up a tree stand off of each trail. If the wind conditions are better for a certain way then hunt one instead of the other.
Matchthedeerslayer
ill try a set-up off the trail about 20 yards so i can watch both trails that go through the area.
Guest deadeye270
don't forget to pick a spot that allows easy access without having to cross to many of the trails the deer will be on
Huntin Junky
ill try a set-up off the trail about 20 yards so i can watch both trails that go through the area. If you have the time, I would set up far enough back to see both trails and the surrounding area & spend a few days watching everything. Then make my decision on the best place to hang a stand. Step back and look at the big picture.
PAstringking
i would find where they are bedding during the day...then find their path to get to the corn...then set up on that path in 2-3 different locations so if the wind shifts you can pick a differnt location on the same path. Matchthedeerslayer
I know where they bed because on the other side of my land there is a bunch of pine trees ad where we are puttin the plot is where they uesd to bed.
whitetailkiller
i would put my stand in a tree about 30-50 yards away from either food source but on that trail (20-25 yards away) you don't want to wait till last light unless you have to ....get them on the way to the food sources!!!!!!!
