Born2Hunt
So far it has been a pretty hard hunting here in N.N.Y. . The toms have been with hens and have not seperated untill very late in the day so Saturday I changed it up a bit. Instead of soft tree yelps first thing in the morning I let the toms gobble a few times then I did a fly down sound with my hat and started yelping right off. When I did this it drove the hens insane. They started cutting and yelping like mad so I made a challenge with aggressive yelping and cutting with my Williams glass call. Not 60 seconds later 9 hens flew down 80 yds from me followed by 4 long beards. After 30 minutes of a strutting show, a hen being bred and the tom I shot being beat up by two other birds, I took the first bird that came into range. It was a 41 yard shot and man those #5's did the job. Here are a couple pics. Marc
Ravin R10 man
I sure love mine..it sounds sooo realistic, I tried the same tactic, but had no hens around to help me out..the Gobblers would hit the call every time, but then flew down to an adjacent field to strut..we had set up in the woods on a trail on the opposite side of the gobblers ...I goofed, but we did set up on that feild the next eve. and Kim got her bird. congrats on a great bird!! VermontHunter
CONGRATS !! on a great bird... :) All I've encountered on my trips are hens... I have yet to hear a gobble in the woods .. but the hens seem to like my Williams Call, I had them going mad for a time with it.... I hope someday I'll get to bag a Vermont Tom .. at the moment Turkeys are tough to get here in Northern Vermont...

2labs
That is a great bird, I know what you mean about the hunting being tough. I have been after 2 long beards since the youth season, came close saturday with my son he still had 3 hens and 1 came down the trail and the tom I thought was going to follow but he went back the other way with the other 2 hens. At least he is down to a couple of hens, he had about a dozen to start , and non will get aggresive if you try to aggitate them they seem very passive. I am going in the morning. Guest unclee
Gene's Turkey calls Nice bird. Our season is out here in NC & SC. Very tough season here. Not much gobbling going on. It took till the last day of the season to get my Tom in NC. Gene's Turkey Calls are very nice too. Double Stacked Diaphragm Call
