MCH
Since March of last year, Ichiro has stolen 43 consecutive bases without being caught. The MLB record is 50(Vince Coleman). Now this may not be as coveted as DiMaggio or Ripken's record, but it's still amazing. And Ichiro plans on exploring the free agent market next year. Should be interesting to see how much he can get. The Dodgers gave Pierre 9 mil. Ichiro should bring 8 figures.

MCH
the guy can flat out fly...went to the tigers/mariners game last wednesday and man, he gets out of the box fast...and covers a lot of ground out in center... When I first saw him play, I thought he was ruining the sport. The way he slapped at the ball and ran at the same time. I'd seen different players do it every now and then(Furcal) but never someone who did it everytime at bat. But after a while, it grew on me. Can't imagine how it would feel to be a third baseman with Ichiro at bat. Wouldn't have much room for a bobble or mistep, thats for sure. toddyboman
The thing that bugs me the most about Ichiro is that he does not have his lastname on the back of his jersey but his first name. I know thats kinda petty but that just bugs me. But the dude is grease lightning fast, plays a very good in the outfield. But I agree with MCH in not liking his batting style but I too have gotten use to it. As a leadoff batter his job is to get on base and well he does get the job done. Ichiro may look good in a Red jersey with birds on the bat.

MCH
Some fan you are, ever hear of Ty Cobb, or Rod Carew? DB:D Never watched Ty Cobb personally. But I watched Rod a lot. In fact, he's one of my best friends. And sir, Ichiro is no Rod Carew. Seriously, Rod did like Furcal. He slap hit every now and then. I wasn't saying that Ichiro invented the slap hit, just that he uses it every at bat whereas the rest of baseball used it less frequently. Actually, I just wanted to pull you out of your banker's hole to see if you'd reply, and you did. Thanks for playing. So, Rod's a personal friend, eh? muggs
Slap hitters ruining the game? We think that's unfair. Signed, The subtle nuances that make baseball great. DB.
MCH
So, Rod's a personal friend, eh? Not really. I just jump at every chance I have to use Bentsen's awesome comeback.
buckbuster11
Ah yes, it's not the beefed up roid heads cranking it 450 feet that are ruining the game. It's the pure hitters like Ichiro. C'mon Kev. That's a pretty amazing record if you think about it. Closing in on 50 straight steals is something else.
