Guest psefirestormlite
I typed a long one last night and some how erased it...here is the long story short unfortunately I had no luck with the bow this year. Shot one Yesterday with the Gun around 9am at 35 yards. The way I was set up i could have easily have killed him with a bow (shoulda, woulda, coulda). Place two hen and a Jake about 20 yards from me on a finger in a grass field. Called about every 15 minutes in between my cat naps. Around 8:30 I had a ground hog in front of me and was tempted to shoot it. My gut feeling said don't do it and in a matter of minutes I catch movement on my left side. it was a big old tom about 200 yards in full strut closing the distance quick. got settled and let him walk by at about 35 yards and pulled the trigger. Dropped in his track. He weighed 24 lbs and had spurs that were 1 1/8 inches long and had two beards one that was 10 1/4 and a small one that was 8 5/8 long. This was probably my coolest day in the woods the double beard was and big old hooks were just a bonus... I had turkeys all over the farm (156 acre). Went to three parts of the farm and could have killed a turkey at each spot. All together I saw 6 toms yesterday and the farthest one from me was less than sixty yards.
