VermontHunter
OK I'm at that point in Archery where I find that I need to upgrade my cheap starter release to a good solid hunting release, keeping in mind that I'm a lefty and have small wrists. So I would appreciate any opinions from you experienced Archery hunters.

Chrud
Re: Hunting Release I'm checking out the Carter Two Shot. It is FULLY customizeable from trigger weight to length of the release. Plus, it can't be in the way of using binoculars. You can use it like a back tension also.
maddhunter
Re: Hunting Release I've been using a Tru-Flight for the last 10 years and have never had any trouble with it. It wraps around the hand with the thumb through a hole. It doesn't shorten your draw lenth either. The only thing bad is it can't be used with a string loop, it has a finger style lock instead of a clamp. I use the ultra nock.
ruttinbuc
Re: Hunting Release I have tried a few releases in my time and have settled into the Scott Little Goose. It is a one jaw release that I use with a loop. I liked it it ever since I bought it some time ago. It comes down to what you are comfortable with. What works for some is certainly not the best for all.
ScottyLuck
Re: Hunting Release This is truly a personal thing. Releases by Tru Fire, Tru Ball, Scott, Winn, Jim Fletcher are all top quality aids. I've been using a Winn for the last 8 yrs and love it. My best advice to you is head to a local shop and try a few out.

magnatecsteve
Re: Hunting Release I have shot Scott releases for years and have never had a problem at all. I used a Mongoose for quite a while, but then I wanted something with a smaller head. I shot several models, most were all very good. I would DEFINATELY shoot them before buying one. There were a few that I just couldn't get comfortable with, even though they are very popular releases, so don't let someone tell you what you want. I finally narrowed it down between a Scott Little Goose, or a TRU-Ball, which I cannot remember the exact model...maybe the Rackmaster. Well anyway, I stuck with the Scott Little Goose and I LOVE it. It's my hunting and 3-D release. Good luck!
VermontHunter
Re: Hunting Release Thanks for the input guys and I greatly appriciate it..I guess I'll have to see if the proshops around here will let me try a few out...they usually give the song and dance well if I take out of the package I have to sell it as used... VermontHunter
Re: Hunting Release Man I give up..... ..I went to the local archery shop today to try some releases out to see which one I wanted to buy and the idiot told me I had to buy it first....man I hate this too many choices and these things are way too expensive for me to buy in bulk just to see what is comfortable...so I just walked out in disgust...especially after I just dropped over a grand there in a new bow and setup... .... popgun
Re: Hunting Release I think it is time to ask to see the manager. They should have at least one of each release for customers to try out at their range. If reminding them of your recent bow and set up purchase doesn't help, remind them that there are other bow shops that can use your money. If that don't work, I'd definitely go somewhere else. I hope you find what you are looking for. .....popgun
VermontHunter
Re: Hunting Release this shop is a owner operator type of shop..as for going somewhere else there really isn't anyplace to go unless I want to drive 40+ miles out of my way..dang it.. popgun
Re: Hunting Release Sorry to hear that, but I would still drive more than 40 miles each way to get the service I felt that I deserve. .....popgun
tedicast
Re: Hunting Release I have been using a Winn Free Flight for 9 years now. I use it with a loop, and have absolutely no problems with it. I love the "glove" style of this release. It isn't flopping around when you aren't using it.
