mag1
When did you wisconsin guys see the rut picking up in Central Wisconsin last year (2006)? This would be Waushara county. 1st week of nov. we saw a bunch of running, but I was wondering what others saw. I'm trying to coralate some things to help pick my 3days of bow hunting during the rut phase this bow season. Thanks for any input, Can't wait till Sept. Chrud
The first week of November is usually when the best rutting activity starts in our area (Langlade County). Usually it's pretty good activity up until the a few days before the gun opener.
Guest Finn
Hard to plan vacation around it. 2 years ago, I took off the first week of November...when it usually hits. It was around 65 degrees all week and there didn't seem to be a rut. The 4th through the 10th of November is when I'd guess the peak to hit. Guest dedicatedmarine
i'm in brown county, just north of lake Winnebago, Last season i saw breeding taking place from nov. 5-14, but i think pre-rut can sometimes be more productive, bucks are chasing then, instead of bieng "held up" laying with one particular doe. The prerut usually has them moving a bit more. I'd shoot for Nov. 1st. I saw "Big Buck" movement starting about the 1st, then it died down about the 6th with the warmer weather.
