I have never used loctite when mounting my scope but I have heard of people doing it. Just wondering how many of you use this product and which loctite do you use? Aren't there different ones with stonger adhesive properties? And if you use them do you ever have problem removing the screws later?

thanks

If you have any problems removing screws that have been tightened with Loctite heat it just a little bit. This will bring it back to its liquid state. Of course you want to be very careful whening doing this. It does not take much.

Also for gods sake do not do this when the rifle is loaded......LOL tongue.gif

The best way I've found to heat up something that's been stuck with Loctite is to use hot water. If the water is very hot, it will evaporate quickly and won't cause any corrosion on the metal.

You have to take them to a lot higher temps than it takes to soften the thread locker to loose temper. As long as they don't glow red, you are ok. I have used a MAPP gas torch on occasion when someone used red locktite and nothing else would work. The screws were fine afterwards.

Todd, there is another grade of LOCTITE that I would recommend, it is LOCTITE 222, made specifically for smaller fasteners to 1/4". The 242 is made for fasteners above 1/4". The 242(blue) is a bear to break loose, whereas the 222 isn't, although both are service removable.
