Turkeygirl
Just got back from the city about a half hour ago. Went to Dick's and used my $10 certificate on a Thermarest sleeping pad ($16 foam one, alot nicer than my Walmart one). Got to Gander Mountain, a little disappointed. They are re-arranging/remodeling so they had to clearance shoes/sandals and what they did have was poor. Hunting had some nice clearance on camo insulate pants but a little big around the waits. I did get a few fly tying things and a Buck Bantam Knife (medium sized one without the pocket clip) which is nice...handle a little lightweight but a nice small knife that is affordable. Their headlamp selection was kind of puny also....along with the archery. So looks like I'll be ordering a few things online. Still a good trip to the city which we only make once to twice a year. Hoping I can wake up in the morning and turkey hunt:D
Guest bowboy0
Congratz on the new gear!! I had a guy come in the shop today telling me and Terry (my sponsor) that he could not tune his bow. We asked him how he tuned it... he said how he did it and it was right... So we asked him to show us the bow... The guys that set up the bow at our local Gander Mt. stuck the rest in the front of the bow and fliped a right handed sight around to use it as a left handed one.... Guest bowboy0
I dont run it. I am a sponsored shooter for him so I help him as much as possible and he has been sick latly so it helps him when I am there. I do not get paid for it. Just trying to help a man who has helped me very much! I am not sure if you were talking about the Gander Mt. or the shop I help at.
M00N
Sorry to hear about your Gander Mountain experience, it sounds similar to how my last trip to one of their stores went. What kind of sandals were you looking for Ruth? I just got a pair of athletic sandals from that Cabela's Email Only Sale for myself and my mother and then went back a few days later and got the men's versions of them for my father and we all absolutely love them to death, so comfortable. I'm not even a sandals fan, but I've been wearing them a lot. They were made by Merrell.
wtnhunt
Have never been to a Gander Mountain Ruth. Good luck turkey hunting. They were made by Merrell. Got a pair of merrell reactors from cabelas to wear around the pool and in the yard, and they are pretty comfortable.
AdvantageTimberLou
My Gander Mountain is pretty good compared to Dick's Sporting goods. Dick's just does not seem to have the knowledge or selection. Congrats on the trip to the city, once or twice a year trip? WOW!

Guest Finn
Just like all the stores...sometimes there are deals, some times nothing. I've walked out of Bass Pro many times with no purchases. Can't expect a big box store to have the experts in the archery department like at a local pro shop.
stevebeilgard
well, that may make the next trip all that much more special... lol
Doc
Our Gander Mountain has been a huge disappointment. When they first opened up, they had huge selections of everything and some pretty reasonable prices. It wasn't long before I started noticing big empty areas on the shelves and prices climbing through the roof. There have been many times when I have driven all the way to the city to get a particular item and found out that they were out-of-stock. It's gotten to the point where I have developed some pretty low expectations and now I am starting to go other places or mail-ordering stuff. I'm not sure whether these are signs of a failing or unhealthy business or just some rather poor business processes, but I'm afraid that they are losing at least one very good customer with their skimpy inventories.
