Late Season bird tactics?

Anyone have any good tips for hunting birds this late in the season? I haven't been out for a week since last Saunday when that one birdo ver by the state land gobbled like a couple times and that was it..except for a couple hens running through. I'm planning on going to the same area tomorrow morning...don't think I'll have much competition from other hunters.

Should I be calling lightly - clucks and purrs - not alot, just once in a while? Should I have my hen decoy out?

Hoping to hear a gobble, but would appreciate some tips. I plan on hunting late, at least aiming for 11am.

I would set up somewhere along their travel route with a bunch of decoys. Lots of decoys. Make it sound like a bunch of content and feeding birds, with a bunch of clucks and purrs. Call for 30 seconds to a minute every 15 minutes. The reason for all the dekes is to make it look like a big flock is in the woods, because if turkey are used to seeing a deke spread with say 2 hens and a jake all season, chances are they won't be so eager to come in to that. But now if they see a bunch of birds, granted they haven't seen that all season, they should be more reluctant to come in. That's my personal opinion.

This late in the season is one of my favorite times to hunt turkeys in the spring. The hens are nesting and the toms are all lonely and are looking for love. I shot my bird last weekend at 10:00 AM. That bird gobbled for me about 7 or 8 times before I shot him, and that was late in the morning. I shot him next to a big field that served as a strutting zone in late mornings for 5 or 6 toms. I only knew this because I did my scouting in April and they didn't change patterns at all.

If you were closer, I'd offer to call for you, or heck, you can even come hunt with us at our property. I'll put you on some birds. I have this one spot we haven't touched yet this season and I plan to be back there Sunday morning, hopefully filling my last tag.

havent had much luck with them comeing in.but have had a bunch gobbleing they've just been hened up.i went out this morning and as soon as i sat down i brough out my slate call and purred and instantly i had 2 hens call back to me from their roost.didnt hear any gobbles tho but im hopeing on going out in acouple hours at 10 or so and sit until 12

Well I went to the state land this morning and I thought I heard a far off gobble or two..hard totell with the trees leafed out and a slight breeze. I'll probably go back tomorrow unless I find the gobbler here around home.I was going to hunt later but my back has been bugging me so trying to sit forever and ever isn't exactly fun,lol. The spot I was in where I was last Sunday has alot of scratchings, not like day fresh but they must move through there at some point...
