johnf
My sister called me histericly crying telling me that Stella, her English Bulldog, had been attacted by a vicious deer and she was on her way to the animal hospital. She said Stella was making her moring rounds around the property which is 10 acers of the convergence of the bottom of 4 hills with a 2 acer pond in the middle. On her way up to the house a mature doe came from out of nowhere and started attacking her with it's front hoofs and biteing her on the back and head. The dog ran up the hill to my sister who was watching in horror. Not to be bested by a herbavor the dog regained her composier and went back for seconds. Aparently the doe had her on her back and was going at her pretty hard for a while before she could get away. When she finally did the deer chased her up to the front door of my sisters house, then ran down to the point of the original altercation. When she stopped my sister said she saw a small fawn step up and start nursing on the doe. Stella recieved stitches on her belly, hind legs and back. She's also pretty bruised up and will probibly not be picking on any more deer.

Hmm...I had a doe tonight with a fawn come to about 25 yards from me...I was actually wondering if she might attack me if I did anything or got too close...guess it can happen! buckee
Sorry to hear about the poor dog. The nothing more dangerous, than a Mama protecting her young. It's amazing really how far they will go sometimes, it's just too bad for the poor dog.
LifeNRA
Two years ago I kicked up a fawn while walking back out to my truck! I didnt want to scare it to death like that! But now that I think about this, got to wonder where mom was! Could have been any turkey hunter get beat up like that!

wtnhunt
As I was reading your story John, I knew the outcome had to be a fawn around. Have seen some interesting behaviour from does with fawns. Cool story, thanks for sharing.
