My Dad called me the other day and told me he had sturgeon spawning in front of the house. They live on Burt lake just south of the mackinaw bridge. He said his neighbor came over and told him to come outside and look in the lake, there was 23 sturgeon in the shallow water rolling around. He said the biggest one was 6 feet long!!!! His neighbor has lived there 25 years and never has seen anything like it. He took pics and he said he would send them to me, so I will post them when I get them.

We saw one Sunday that must have weighed over 200 pounds. He was huge. Swimming casually by the boat. And all night long we had one jumping in the river in front of the sandbar where we were camping. Awesome sight.

Can't wait to see your pics. I got one on video last year.

That is awesome! Id love to catch one.

Can you and do people eat Sturgeon?

Here in Florida it is HIGHLY illegal to keep, catch, touch, harass, eat, etc., They will put you UNDER then jail.;)

I'd never kill one of those things. It takes them forever to get big. It'd be like killing one of those giant tortoises. :(

I heard of some places that allow you one per year, and its also has to be in a slot limit as well! I heard they are very good, but the caviar(sp?) they say is the best! But I never tasted fish eggs! YUCK!!!

I seen a guy in the Colorado River, dive off the boat they were in, and hand catch a 20 footer! I remember him saying they can live over 200 years!!! Imagine catching a fish that was around during the 1776 war!!! This was all on TV a few years ago.
