AJ
I have not really been much in the hunting or shooting mood since I moved to the desert. Hopefully if I draw a few critters it will get me interested, but until then, I needed something to keep me busy. I have been looking at ATVs as there is a lot of room to play with them here. I thought about a 4x4 for hunting, but they are boring. I can still do a lot of the things I want with a sport quad and go a lot faster and quicker. I started pricing the big bores and decided on the Yamaha Raptor 700 Special Edition II. This thing will flat out haul tail!!!! When I got it home and took it to the garage I got on it a bit and it gets your attention I rode it a little this evening and I am starting to get the hang of riding a sport bike. When this thing is cranked out wide open the top speed is almost 80 mph. I have not had it up that fast yet. I have backed off just over 50 mph or so. Have fun on that Raptor and be safe will ya...
wtnhunt
If you think that Raptor is fast ,,, too bad you missed the Banshee era ... Used to work with a kid who said his banshee would run easily over 100 mph. Sounds like you have the place to open one up, have fun and be safe. Congratulations on the new bike AJ. Shaun_300
That's awesome AJ! I was just looking at that exact same one in our local dealer, it'd be so fun to have, but we don't really have much room to make use of a sport quad here. I'd be further off getting a 4x4 Kodiak 450 or something like that, I'd get a lot more use out of it. Congrats on the new toy AJ!
Tominator
Cool. They do look fun.
Strut10
Hope this isn't stemming from depression generated by your ouster at the OTPG. I'd hate to think I was partly responsible for your backslide away from the finer things in life.
Born2Hunt
AJ, I have a raptor 660 and that machine has been clocked at 82 in bone stock trim. Enjoy they are a ton of fun!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeramie
That puppy will scream! Just watch your self on the new toy! Btw, isn't that the Magnums of quads? You switching sides on us?
hutchies
Yep a good machine. Did you get the one with EFI? Raptors have always been a little top heavy so be careful in the corners. When you go to buy new tires buy new rims too with a deeper offset. More stability. BTW- Desert is a great place to ride. Current ride: 400ex Airbox mods, piped and rejetted Renthal Bars and Lonestar bone Lonestar parking brake removal kit Few other mods including having a set of sand tires for dunes or the river!!!!!! Bachflock
Congrats but be safe! I went over the handle bars of an ORV at about 35 mph. My helmet helped save my life. That mail box pole didn't even budge!

QDMAworks4me
Sweet. Like others said the Banshee was crazy fast. The raptor is quit a machine, have fun. Oh wait I know you will. So be safe!! I had a banshee and it was really fast, but after the third motor I put in it, I decided that it was just not worth owning anymore. The Raptor is a really nice machine, and reliable. Good luck and have fun.

lil hunter
so Mr. AJ, since you are taking part in a new and very expensive hobby, I suggest you sell me a couple of your finer guns at a cheap price, what say you? And now that you are into all this desert ridin stuff, I also expect to see you do a complete build of an ATC 250R. Yes a 3 wheeler, they are more fun anyway, and even for a completely built one, it's a lot cheaper than a new quad. But you can just sell me a couple more of your guns cheap to finance that build also.
