BowJoe
I think old Casey was feeling the fear of losing his job if he didn't get a good finish going quick with Jr. being a free agent. I know Hendrick said he didn't have room for Jr. but I really don't believe that. I think he'd make room. Congrats to Mears. His first win ever in Nextel Cup racing. J. J. Yeley finally had a good finish too coming in second. One huge congratulations for Kyle Petty and his team coming in 3rd for the first time in 10 yrs. It was definately a race to remember as the most unlikely drivers scored high in the field. Gordon was in 41st and I of course had him picked in my fantasy draft which dropped me to 9/14. I don't think I had a driver finish higher than 11th. I had Yeley as an alternate in my C class and he came in second but that doesn't earn me points nor did Jimmy Johnson's 10th place finish. I just took a look at the finishing order and OMG. 6 of the top 7 are only ever mentioned when they are in a wreck, caused a wreck or the leaders have to get around them to put them another lap down. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW!   Seems like they really showed everything they had or their was a pitting mistake made by the leaders at some point. Oh well, that's why I like NASCAR, you never know what's going to happen.
VermontHunter
CONGRATS !! to Mears on his first Cup win ... :) and just think a Toyota got it's first top 5 finish.. That finish just might be the start of something for them... we'll just have to wait and see... This race sure didn't end up the way I thought it was ..
snapper
I thought it was a good race (esp. seeing the 24 hit the wall...lol). Although I hate seeing a race finish because of gas mileage. The cars like #48, #17, #20, #8, #11, and a few others were the class of the field ALL day/night long. They had the cars to beat, they hit their setups and ran up front for all but the last ten laps when they had to come in for a 2 second splash and go of gas! Congrats to Casey on his first win and Kyle Petty for a great finish...but they wouldn't have finished where they did if the leaders didn't have to pit and they chanced it. Chrud
Didn't get to see the race, but as soon as I got the results I knew it was a fuel milage finish. That is why I love short track dirt racing. The driver and crew has to do their homework to get the setup right and it's a racers race. No fuel milage, no new tires. Just go out there and race. VermontHunter
(esp. seeing the 24 hit the wall...lol). Behave yourself snapper .. :p If Jeff hadn't been tangled up with that lapped car (Raines) he would have been something to tend with in the end ... :D but that's another case of shoulda, and coulda ... Jr. had one heck of a car from the get go ,, he even fought his way back from a lap down, with some ease I thought... Decent race all in all even if the #24 was out of it.. Guest Wackmaster17
Stanley Cup How about the big sporting event for today? The quest for Lord Stanley's Cup finally starts today when the the Senators meet the Ducks tonight!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D It's looking like it will be a great series to find out who is really the greatest team in the NHL this season, but I think the Sens will take the cup back to Canada in 6 games. I'd rather see the gas come into play at the end of the race, instead of a "Caution for Phantom debries" Good Gas Milliage is a nice thing to hav ewith these high fuel prices!! Ask Casey Mears. dg
Congrats to Casey for winning. Funny, I didn't see a fuel gamble asterisk next to his name. Or any other driver for that matter! Many have won that way. Most drivers have won a race on a gamble. So don't negate those who do.
MUDRUNNER
It's good to see a fresh face in victory lane.I also rather enjoyed seeing the Bush bros. crash and finish in the back. How about Kyle Petty in third! The race wasn't nothing spectacular.I'm not a fan of fuel mileage races, but there's nothing you can do about that.I also like seeing more than 12 cars finish on the lead lap. Guest Finn
That was a good race. Although not a fan, glad to see Gordon wasn't hurt. That could have been a bad one. Stewart looked good. Maybe he's going to be back in it.
AdvantageTimberLou
600 miles and it comes down to who has more gas in the tank!? Gotta love or hate it!! Mears needed that win as that #25 has always been the downfall of Hendrick Motorsports, that team can never seem to get on the roll. Not sure Casey is the missing link though, sure he won the race but we're talking fuel strategy and the same top 3 might not even be in the top 20 next week at Dover!!! BowJoe
Does anyone know if it's a regular car race or a COT race? I'm not sure (of course I coulda checked). If it's a COT, then my money is on another Hendrick win or possibly Jr. coming through. Rousch might be making a move to interrupt the big streak but I think there's dissension in the ranks what with the lack of winning recently. Not like two years ago when Rousch was the team to beat for 4 years in a row. I think you may see Kenseth or Edwards driving the #8 next year or maybe even Biffle. Rousch has sorta gone the way of T-Rex on a lot of issues and the cat in the hat is in the dog house. Put it this way. If you can lose Gentleman Mark Martin, then what did you do for him to tell you to ..... well, you know. Hopefully somebody can stop this Hendrick Freight Train running through the first half of the year! I have never seen this sort of dominance in NASCAR since I have been watching. It's crazy. One could stoke the fires of conspiracy and say that the sanctioning body has only used COT and COY when it would help Hendrick but I don't see very many lights in the sky or little green men rattling around. I'll leave the speculation for Coast To Coast AM!! LOL
Chrud
I think you may see Kenseth or Edwards driving the #8 next year or maybe even Biffle. Biffle will drive the 8 next year. I can't see Kenseth or Edwards leaving a team like Roush for a team like DEI. If it's a COT at Dover I pick Denny Hamlin to win.
Guest HoppeMan
Congrats to Mears, though I'm a bit (bit?) disapointed Stewart didn't stay out and win. He would have had enough fuel to hold on and win But I'm glad for Mears Take care, Nathan
