Guest BigKahuna1243
after looking around for a while and looking for a new general purpose spinning rod, I've narrowed it down to a Fenwick HMX 6'6 spinning and a St. Croix Premier 6'6 spinning (both medium power rating). Both are fairly close in price and I liked the feel of both of them. If you guys have any pro's and con's for either or another suggestion in that price range, please comment. DU_man_84
the fenwicks are nice, i have a few buddies that fish em, ive never fished one personally but have used theres and they are nice, but i like my st. croix's over them anyday, but a big thing for me is that st. croix is an american made product, and i am pretty sure that fenwick is not, and thats just kinda a big thing to me, other than that there isnt much i can say bout fenwick cause havent had much experience with them
LifeNRA
I used to buy Fenwicks HMG Graphite rods until I learned that the Bass Pro Bionic Blades are The same Fenwick HMG blanks! Buy two get one free! Cant beat that deal! Unless they dont offer that anymore!
Guest BigKahuna1243
Thanks guys. I'm probably leanning towards the St. Croix a little more than the Fenwick.
Randy
St. Croix for me.
Hoyt03
All my rods are St Croix and won't have it any other way. I have 3 of the rod's you talking about. 6'6'' medium is a good all around as well as the 6'6'' ML Premieres. I have landed panfish to 20 lb musky on this rod. It has strong enough backbone for the big ones but excellent feel for the little ones and lite bite. You will not be disappointed with a St Croix, I think I have a dozen or so of them now. RangerClay
Good choice! The best fly rod I have ever owned was a St. Croix. Good luck with your new pole!
flyrod64
I've never used a St. Croix but thats because I've always been satisfied with my fenwick. About all I do is flyfish so my regular fishing rods are all zebco's and rhinos.
