texastrophies
Here is a picture of my son Jacob's first buck, a 5 pointer. He is 10 years old. He missed his first shot at this deer at about 40 yards, his second shot at about 60 yards connected. The way the deer was standing almost straight away from us and looking back at us, the only shot available was to the neck. At just about the time I was going to tell him to wait until the deer turned, he shot and it dropped in it's tracks with a neck shot. I later explained to him it would have been better to wait for the deer to turn and offer a broadside shot, but I was and am still very proud of him. VermontHunter
Re: Son\'s First Buck Real nice deer for the first one...this always seems to be the one that's most special in our hearts. Gald to hear that shot worked out..and was real glad to hear that you explained that that particular shot wasn't the best choice. With a dad like you teaching him he'll be a real fine hunter, and seems to be well on his way...Congrats.
